VA Tech crushing UNC. They’ll get another quality win and make the ACC title. Ugh. We may need to win our conference tournament now.
It's an interesting match up he has us in right now. First four vs Wyoming...then first round would be against UConn of all teams.mustangxc wrote:Back on the right side of the bubble according to Joe Lunardi. We still need to avoid bid stealers and I would feel much more comfortable with a win tonight though. I think a win over Memphis puts us in as a lock.

It will be criminal if Virginia Tech loses tonight but still gets an at-large bid ahead of SMU. They lost to both Memphis and Dayton and their best non-conference win was arguably vs 15-17 Maryland. Wake Forest is another ACC team in the same category as their best non-conference win might have been vs 15-16 Northwestern. Once again it would be the "blue blood" conference bias at work.DC-Pony wrote:VA Tech crushing UNC. They’ll get another quality win and make the ACC title. Ugh. That same rinky dink conference that saw it's 6th, 7th, 8th & 10th place teams all beat P5 teams this year? 8th place Cincy somehow managed to win @ Illinois, so I guess the Big 10 is even more rinky dink than the American...but that won't stop them from getting multiple teams into the NCAA. I just hope our guys get a shot at your frogsgeezerdonk wrote: The NCAA might overlook the fact that SMU plays in a third tier rinky dink conference with very few competitive teams.
...".6th, 7th, 8th"... maybe too many and too big of numbers for a TCU man to comprehend. Slow down an little and let him get his calculator out.Charleston Pony wrote:That same rinky dink conference that saw it's 6th, 7th, 8th & 10th place teams all beat P5 teams this year? 8th place Cincy somehow managed to win @ Illinois, so I guess the Big 10 is even more rinky dink than the American...but that won't stop them from getting multiple teams into the NCAA. I went through the standings and included one bid leagues and tournament upsets (Virginia Tech) and could not find enough at large teams more deserving than this SMU team. I allowed most of the teams you mention above into the tournament and still did not find enough to knock SMU out.mustangxc wrote:It's not 68 teams though, it's more like 40 because of all the automatic bids. I still think we have a better resume than Rutgers, Michigan, Indiana, Wake Forest, Miami, Notre Dame, UNC, Xavier, Creighton, Wyoming, Oklahoma, BYU. We should be in.
