Re: Dayton Game
Being at the game, I was really pleased with how we looked. In both halves we came back from a double point deficit to make a good game of it The Dayton people around me were really impressed with how we handled the crowd. That is tough atmosphere for a visiting team. The three pointer that Dayton hit when we were down by one with really fired up the crowd and seemed to have sucked the life out of the team. I was also really impressed with the D and the ball handling. Only 9 turnovers against their pressing D was good. I think that this game is going to help us immensely as the year progresses.

Yeah, it showed me that we may have a tourney-worthy team.

Re: Dayton Game
IMO- not very impressive when we get beat by a bunch of FR and SOs from a secondary school.
Hope this is not an indication of how our season is going to go.

Re: Dayton Game
I am sure the blue uniforms threw us for a bit of a loop early. Nice to see us hang with a ranked team on the road so early in the season.
Hopefully there are better days ahead this season!

if you don’t know anything about basketball, posting nothing is still an option instead of this ^redpony wrote:IMO- not very impressive when we get beat by a bunch of FR and SOs from a secondary school.

Re: Dayton Game
Dayton is a good team that is going to go higher as year progresses. I want Foster playing soon. Similar to Wheaton in football.

Re: Dayton Game
Correct- I am far from knowing a lot about todays bball game. My primary interest is fball and soccer. However, I do know the difference between winning and losing. A once famous coach- Vince Lombardy once said - losing is an admission of failure. Just think we need to do what is necessary to not be on the losing side.gostangs wrote:if you don’t know anything about basketball, posting nothing is still an option instead of this ^redpony wrote:IMO- not very impressive when we get beat by a bunch of FR and SOs from a secondary school.

BTW- I grew up near Dayton and they are a trash school FYI.

Re: Dayton Game
Yeah, if he is able to get healthy, it would completely change the big rotation and have a massive impact on the team's upside. I bet we have that hawaii tourney circled as the time to get everything clicking ahead of conference.Screck wrote:Dayton is a good team that is going to go higher as year progresses. But this is about basketball and they have a good history and have been a good basketball program for yearsredpony wrote:BTW- I grew up near Dayton and they are a trash school FYI.

CP- I'm well aware of their history. their bball program was so dirty it makes the whorns programs look like saints. Had a friend named Wayne Embry. His dad was offered 75k/yr if Wayne would go to UD. Not bad for a farmer with no education in the mid-50s. Wayne went elsewhere and later to the NBA. I am sure their payola continued for many years.Charleston Pony wrote:But this is about basketball and they have a good history and have been a good basketball program for yearsredpony wrote:BTW- I grew up near Dayton and they are a trash school FYI.

We did it pretty well, too. I was in Dallas and a season ticket holder during the Bliss years when we rose to Top 10 caliber. Plenty of schools around the country look at SMU as having one of the dirtiest athletic programs in the gameredpony wrote:CP- I'm well aware of their history. their bball program was so dirty it makes the whorns programs look like saints. Re: Dayton Game
I will say that I was surprised there was no blowout; but Dayton was missing two of their top players.
A long tradition of existence.
