Re: Top 25!
If only TV executives had influence. We might see a Dallas #5 market team have an edge over a Roanoke-Lynchburg #71 market team.
Re: Top 25!
Tulane beating UTSA is now just as important as us winning against Navy for our NY6 hopes. We need to pound Navy and hope for some upsets so we can slide into the CFP 25 going into the championship game.GHammond wrote:Liberty!?! Bottom line = we must beat Navy and hope to play Tulane and then beat them, our only shot at a New Years Six.
Of course, the Pueblo Aggies could knock off Liberty and make this all mute. Hell, maybe UTEP can pull off an upset.
I still feel that no matter what anyone else does, if Tulane and SMU meet in the championship game after both winning this weekend, the winner goes to the NY6 bowl.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

No doubt about it (assuming both teams come in undefeated in AAC play). SMU winning @ Tulane would be that much more impressiveshadowman wrote:I still feel that no matter what anyone else does, if Tulane and SMU meet in the championship game after both winning this weekend, the winner goes to the NY6 bowl.

While you may roll your eyes or say 'meh' to the AP rankings, it keeps those teams on every bottom of the TV screen scroll Saturday and throughout the week. The perception and PR move to see SMU in the rankings can only HELP with image, recruiting, mystique, and top of mind nature versus not being there.

Good point. I don't have a problem with Liberty because I respect the 0. When we get out ranked (in the AP) by Toledo and James Madison and UNLV then I have a huge problem.SmooBoy wrote:While you may roll your eyes or say 'meh' to the AP rankings, it keeps those teams on every bottom of the TV screen scroll Saturday and throughout the week. ItΓÇÖs a start. If we beat Tulane, Liberty is the only real concern. Hopefully the aggies beat them and remove all worries. IΓÇÖm not worried about Toledo.Dukie wrote:SMU debuts in the ESPN Power Rankings at #24:

Up two spots to 20 in what some might argue is the most accurate index. Tulane remains at 50. Of course this isn't adjusted for Stone.

Tulane 50, and Liberty 48.Smumba2009 wrote:https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpiDukie wrote:SMU debuts in the ESPN Power Rankings at #24:

Those making this decision (the CFP committee) need to consider the likelihood that Liberty will get obliterated in the NY6 game, should they and SMU win Fri/Sat.

If this SMU team can win @ Tulane next week I'm confident we will be the highest rated G5 program in the country.
