Sure is... Isn't what happened to FSU last weekend also one? Sure felt like itmtrout wrote:That's an NCAA violation but who's countingSmumba2009 wrote:McCord left The Ohio State University because he wasn't going to start moving forward. My son played in the AJGA senior showcase tournament this past weekend in Vegas. I walked with a coach from Notre Dame on the last day who shared with me that most athletes who are seeking an "upgrade" to their situation have their landing spot unofficially, wink wink, sorted out before they do so. There are work arounds to make those conversations happen off the books.

Re: TRANSFER PORTAL
Is our entire dline on the portal?
Re: TRANSFER PORTAL
Relax -- Wright, Wimberley and Frazier are in the portal, and while they might all have major potential, they have been buried backups so far. Coach Lashlee and Coach Symons have showed that if defensive linemen transfer to SMU and have ability (see Elijah Roberts, Jordan Miller), they will play immediately and they will thrive. It's a safe bet they have a long list of transfer defensive linemen they want, and who want to be here.

Re: TRANSFER PORTAL
Saw this portal blub about a future opponent:
Vanderbilt Commodores
It can sometimes be difficult for smaller programs to manage the portal when their star players get poached by blue bloods. That could be an issue with Vanderbilt as 17 players have entered since November.
It includes quarterbacks AJ Swann and Ken Seals, who combined to throw for 2,640 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season.
They're joined by the team's top three receivers in Will Sheppard, who had 684 yards and eight touchdowns, freshman London Humphreys, who had 439 yards and four touchdowns, and Jayden McGowan, who hauled in 383 yards this season.
Running back Patrick Smith, who was second on the team in rushing with 327 yards and two touchdowns, also departed.
Defensively, Vanderbilt lost safety De'Rickey Wright, who had two interceptions and three pass breakups, as well as defensive end Nate Clifton, who had 7.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks this season.
That is a lot of production for a school like Vanderbilt to replace in one offseason.

Re: TRANSFER PORTAL
Kamryn Farrar has now jumped into the portal joining the group of guys who haven't been able to earn much playing time or can see they are being recruited over. Hopefully all the guys wanting to leave will find a better situation so they can enjoy what's left of their football playing days. At the very least I hope they all find scholarship offers so they can finish their studies and earn degrees, assuming that's a high priority for them

Re: TRANSFER PORTAL
Season is now over and it's time to continue work on building a roster that can compete in the ACC. Good start replacing losses on the D-line with transfers from Georgia, Ohio State, West Virginia & Miami. LB coming in from Utah is another position of need. WR from Oregon and interior OL from OU. I would say we are gaining more than we are losing in the portal but we are also losing some top players who have exhausted their eligibility. Hopefully everyone is contributing what they are comfortable with for the cause

Re: TRANSFER PORTAL
Former Texas A&M cornerback Deuce Harmon announced on social media that he is transferring to SMU (thanks for catching my mistake, Dukie). Listed on the A&M website as a 5-10, 195-pound sophomore in 2023, Harmon is a graduate of Guyer High School in Denton, Texas, where he also ran track. In addition to A&M, Harmon had offers out of high school from SMU, Oregon, USC, Notre Dame, Texas, Washington State, Cal, Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Illinois, Illinois State, Kansas, Kansas State, Memphis, Mississippi State, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech

Re: TRANSFER PORTAL
Another nice pickup at a position of need and he should have 2 more years of eligibility. Keep bringing guys home to finish their college careers at SMU. Keep going after guys we recruited out of H.S. who would not consider G5 schools now that we will be joining the ACC
