Scary sight: Zhuric Phelps drives to his left at the top of the key, lets go of the ball and drops to the ground, grabbing his left knee. Rob Lanier first on the floor to check on him. He's up and walking off, escorted by — but not leaning on — trainers. Straight to the locker room with 1:16 to go in the half.

Hopefully that is just going to be a bruised kneecap, Painful short term but hopefully he will be able to return. Zhuric having another really good game hitting 6-8 FGs including 2-2 threes and adding 3 boards and 2 steals

Mustangs — including Tyreek Smith and Zhuric Phelps — return to the court. Smith is warming up with his teammates. Phelps came out with a brace on his left knee, which he quickly removed. He and a trainer did a little stretching with an elastic band around his knee. Now, under trainer's eye, he's jogging back and forth across the court and doing drills to test lateral movement, starting and stopping, whether he can land on his left foot, skipping, etc. He doesn't look like he's experiencing overwhelming discomfort, gets a pat on the back from the trainer, and now is rejoining his teammates in the layup line ... and even cracked a smile at something a teammate said.
