By the way, please don't talk about real estate. Nobody in real estate consider north I-35 (In Denton no less!!) prime real estate. Quite frankly, I don't know of a place anywhere on I-35 that is considered prime real estate. I promise not to argue with you about how to make a Whataburger (your professional experience) as long as you don't make insanely stupid comments about real estate. I'll even allow your delusions concerning UNT...that can be argued, albeit poorly argued.

So I guess that is why Ross Perot, Jr. paid a very high premium to buy a large chunk of acreage off the interstate land that you hint you can get on a dime?

UNT owns the approx. 200 acres it is building the new "football oriented" Mean Green Village and (obviously) started financially ahead on the project because we didn't have to spend millions upon millions to purchase that property.

Nothing I posted was delusional at all except to those who have a most difficult time honing up to the truth.

Man you're pathetic. With everything going so well up in Denton, I can't for the life of me figure out why you'd want to lower yourself to be in a conference with or otherwise schedule that backstabbin' SMU.

Who said I do now?

I think UNT needs to keep its own separation such as TCU has. After all, we are all 3 Metroplex islands unto ourselves just as it should be, right?

My mini-expose' was more of a description of the only times when SMU seemed to really ever want to schedule UNT in the modern time of NCAA football. Even some older 'Stangs would probably (privately) admit that what I have posted on that subject is pretty well right on target. I mean SMU and UNT first teed it up in the early 1920's as I recall seeing in a media guide and that long before yall ever knew there was a Ruston, LA; so playing each other period was not exactly a new or novel idea.

When UNT integrated in the 1950's, you would be surprised how many other traditionally caucasian Texas universities hung us out to dry because we chose to integrate. Abner Haynes is a friend and I have told him upon occasion (as a caucasian) I was sorry that our alma mater didn't integrate when it should have, ie, our first year of operation, circa 1890.

Somehow I thought this thread would grow new wings today!:)

SMU, TCU & UNT each on their own islands? As I recall, SMU and TCU continue to play each other in every sport at every chance they get. We are rivals. As for UNT, I seem to recall the all-time series is something like 27-3. Not much of a rivalry...but I'm one of the few SMU people who would still like to see us playing each other.

My mistake, I thought your incessant whining about conspiracies to keep UNT out of C-USA meant that you wanted in.

Upon further examination of CUSA and the fact that it now has too many private schools, I don't think it is a good place for UNT to be based on the history of where private schools gather, leagues seems to crumble. Hell, TCU even saw that and got the hell out of Dodge (or CUSA).

The Sun Belt has been good for UNT the last 3 years and will be in this our 4'th year. UNT already has 1 national TV game scheduled for 2004 and the TV schedule isn't even complete yet.

Yet has the WAC East been good for SMU? SMU is changing its WAC East label to a CUSA West label in 2005, so is there something suddenly magical going to happen because of that that hasn't happened the last 20 years on the Hilltop football-wise?

December 14, 2004: ESPN will televise the NEW ORLEANS BOWL that evening with a later starting time than its previous 3 years which will mean higher ratings. The NO's Bowl is a, uh, CUSA bowl, too, BTW; but does it really matter what conference you're in to get to that Big Easy bowl?

Whew! Good thing for you Turner had it in for you, huh? Otherwise you might've been accepted in CUSA which is now on the verge of crumbling. How convenient.

Yall keep on acting how yall are known to act (and not with just UNT, either), keep on doing what yall have been doing and we'll keep on doing what we are doing. That fair enough, hotshot?

Peace.... 8)

You mean you'll keep whining on other school's boards about UNT being treated like a stepchild? Can't wait!

If what I am posting is the truth how could it be whining? Yet you are talking about me, I am talking about a MEAN GREEN football team who will "whined" up at the NEW ORLEANS BOWL this December 14'th. That will be our 2'nd nationally televised game as there is already one scheduled in November (just like there was last November). Fact is, there could be a 3'rd nationally televised game for NORTH TEXAS if everything falls in place.

This most recent part of the thread started with my manifesto of "the only times SMU seemed to want to schedule UNT" in the modern era of NCAA football that most say began in the early 1950's; amazing how that topic has been side-stepped completely.

GMG...

MeanGreenGem wrote:All this post-SWC attitude from many UNT'ers probably has something to do about SMU blackballing our school every chance you get. This time around over a rinky dink little public school in BF Louisiana with a lame excuse from your president that most everyone in the Metroplex who followed this story were rolling their eyes back in disbelief.

Re: whining, see above. One man's truth is another man's paranoid delusion. Sorry, have fun in the Sun Belt and in N.O.

As I wrote in the opening entry on this topic, things have been slow, and sitrring up the mean green adds interest to this board. Maybe I should poke some sticks at TCU next? How soon shall we be rid of their purple presence in the C-USA? I can hardly wait for the Slestak to suffer the rigors of forced road marches to the Far West. I only wish they were playing Hawaii too.
