I have to agree. Unfortunately, if we lose at UConn or slip up in next week's games at Moody and then lose early in the AAC Tourney, we might not even get an invite. Have to finish strong and I'm sure our guys know that. Ben and Sterling won't let anyone forget.

I would have to agree since in 2014, we were one of the only teams ranked in the AP Top 25 to not make the tournament. Not whining, it is just very clear the NCAA and the selection committee will not ever give SMU the benefit of the doubt.

Ummm, since the 64-team format there any been some 2,000 teams that have played in the NCAA tourney.
Only 2 ranked teams have not been invited.
Utah St from the Big West and SMU from the AAC.

The 1993 UNLV team is also on that list.

not disagreeing with you, but I based it on this:
http://www.totalprosports.com/2014/03/17/9-biggest-ncaa-tournament-snubs-of-all-time/#9"Obviously, they did not. Instead, the poor Aggies became the first nationally ranked team not to get invited to the NCAA Tournament. SMU makes it two."Pretty funny that 2 of the 3 would be UNLV and SMU, the darlings of the NCAA.

We had a very bad RPI when we didn't make it. Thankfully, we are 18th in the RPI. Interestingly, our Non-Conference Strength of Schedule is 146th while our overall Strength of Schedule is 101. We need to figure out a way to improve our non-conference strength of schedule if we want to ever have a chance at a top 3-4 seed.

It's a funny year. Just as our conference is in a down year so are many of our OOC choices. You've gotta figure Pitt, Michigan, and Stanford are all not happy with their records about now. Any two of those two or TCU are flirting with top 30 and our OOC looks far better. This years OOC wasn't INTENTIONALLY scheduled as "weak."

True, however I would focus in the future on scheduling the other top tier teams from mid-majors. It's mutually beneficial.

They may just not have looked back far enough.

Exactly, that is what did SMU in. I reviewed the OOC schedule after the snub and six(+/-) of our opponents finished in last place in their respective leagues. That's pretty bad!

Losing to South Florida didn't help. Of course, losing to Houston in conf tourney was what ultimately pushed us out. Lots of big wins couldn't overcome bad losses and low RPI.
With that said, this year stacks up so different. Even without mire than one big win (so far). No bad losses and high RPI, we are good.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology7 seed vs. Myrdel's ARKIE Team in Salt Lake City. We'd play Arizona in next round, then Creighton/FSU in KC. Rematch with Cinci would loom in Elite 8.

Interesting to see Gonzaga still have the 1-seed in the West. At this point I assume the Pac-12 champion will actually end up there.

I really do not want Arkansas. They can certainly be beat but they would not be a good matchup for us in my opinion. They have very competent bigs and very good outside shooters.
I know that will be the norm as we progress but they are a much higher seed team that is lower due to some questionable coaching.

Completely agree. No arky early. That would be a rough draw.

Really hoping this isn't our draw
