Re: Official: SMU vs. Louisville Thread
2 was the best player we have seen this year.
But the rest of this team seems pretty average to me. I don't see them advancing to the sweet 16 much less the final four. Put a blanket on Smith and go at them hard inside and just about any of the last 16 teams can take these guys.

Just got back from the game. While the Nic Moore foul troubles killed us, I have absolutely no idea what we were trying to do inbounding the ball against the press. They were a lot quicker than us, yet we were content with the occasional single screen, and everyone would make one move to try to get open then pretty much give up. The lack of movement and creativity was frustrating as heck.
Ultimately I doubt any of it mattered. Russ Smith was all-world.
What a fantastic crowd. I don't care what it sounded like on tv; it was unbelievably loud in there. Brought 3 non-Mustangs and they loved it.

No way Louisville was gonna lose 2 in a row.
Wasn't gonna happen.
SMU's best chance was if they came in off a win, no. 7 in country.

Got back from the game a while ago. Proud of the job Larry Brown/staff & players have accomplished this year. Still games to be played. . . Brought my brother to his very first college basketball game. Said he wants to come back. Wants to see SMU against opponents like Arkansas, Texas, Kentucky, Kansas, etc. etc.

I think the last dunk confirmed that teams aren't comfortable in Moody. If he hadn't been annoyed he wouldn't have done it.

I agree. I haven't enjoyed myself at SMU sports in a long time like I have with this team. Proud of them!Mustangs35SMU wrote:Despite the loss, was the most fun I've ever had at a basketball game. Can't wait for the next couple of years.
Hope to God we get another shot at that team. Classless!
It makes sense to me.

You can't beat a very good team with 23 turnovers and 13 threes. Louisville's three point shooting and ability to force turnovers was a big thing that stuck out coming into the game, and it ended up proving the difference.
Perimeter defense was good, but they just hit great shots. Both guards got hot in the second half and we just couldn't score with them.
Nic Moore was a loss being on the bench, but even he was having trouble with the physical play of the Louisville guards, especially in the second half.
I think we missed Sterling as much as anything when he got in foul trouble. He has handles and he has size for a guard and really helped us break the press a lot in the first half.
That said, you turn the ball over 23 times, have two of your best players out for half the game in foul trouble, and it takes a really, really good team to shoot the lights out from three in order to win. That isn't bad.
Memphis is going to give us the same treatment on Saturday, and so will Houston in the tourney. It will be interesting to see how we respond.

I too just got back from the game. Our crowd was great, our boys fought hard, and Louisville can go straight to H*LL. We've got to work on defending the press. We'll bounce back and next year we will be great! Beat Memphis! #PonyUp

And suck it that was engrish

Thanks. It was the the occasional punctuation and predicate agreement that confused me.

You have no idea what you are talking about. We were up 14 and our point guard sat for like 10 minutes or so. Louisville is not invincible. Nic doesn't get in foul trouble and it is a different game
