I do not understand why Burcham was not in the game for the last series. I guess JJ is establishing his excuse for why the O does not do well next year. No experience at QB.

Chris Parks is just as bad if not worse. He has NO room to talk trash as much as he is burneddirtysouthpony wrote:I wish Acker would shut his trap when he makes a play. He is not good enough to talk that much trash.

I fail to understand why they even play Parks. He has been a very weak link for 3 years. Prime example was on the first UConn TD ( as I recall ) involving a completed very long pass on the hash marks. Parks chose to cover the receiver from behind safety Scott who was also behind the receiver thereby allowing an easy completion. His responsibility was underneath where he should have knocked down the pass. Instead, he was totally out of the play behind the safety almost picking off Scott which would have resulted in a TD.lwjr wrote:Chris Parks is just as bad if not worse. Yes, that was one of the wins. Not sure if that was the question or not. Lots of question marks.Smerkins wrote:UCF after we beat TCU????SmooPower wrote:In conference. Why do our inside linebackers run right into the offensive lineman when they blitz? They did this numerous times and really made no attempt to get around them. Were they just occupying a blocker to ensure someone else had a better chance to get to the QB, or do they lack technique in trying to get to the QB?

Chris Parks looks like a lost child at an amusement park out there. Whoever is behind him must be blind, crippled, or have to left feet.

Satisfying. That is how I would describe this game. We got ahead, we stayed ahead and finished the game.
Was it perfect, no. Did Connecticut compete and try to beat us? You bet! And they gave it their best (one can imagine the UConn teams and staff had this pencilled in as a win since last a spring).
UConn made adjustments and executed a good game plan all game. We made adjustments all game long. They found our weakness and exploited them. We corrected our weaknesses and found theirs.
We reduced penalties. No turnovers and sealed the win by getting a turnover.
UConn is a winless team but they are not a winless team like those in previous SMU seasons where we didn't have talent, didn't have good coaching and didn't have the desire to finish. UConn has talent, size, speed good coaching and they looked like they wanted to win.
I would have liked a more dominate game earlier by our O. The D started off well. But we did play all four quarters and we vastly reduced mistakes that have made such a huge impact on our previous games' outcomes.
