No, you really haven't. You based a decent portion of your argument accusing SMU of stonewalling Shipp, for which you have no evidence. And kind of admitted you were wrong:
About the "stonewalled" comments, I re-read the article and I think I was reading this wrong
And then you speculate that Shipp ambushed Brown because of the non-existent evidence of stonewalling:
So, while I would still wager that my rationale on why Shipp approached Larry Brown that way was because he wasn't getting anywhere trying to call, you guys are right in that Shipp did not outright say he had tried to contact them before the Houston bombing incident.
You may ultimately be correct that Shipp tried to contact Brown, though I'm surprised Shipp didn't mention that last night. But like just about everyone on this board, you are speculating and drawing inferences. You aren't anywhere near as objective as you think you are. And I say that agreeing with you that some of the more aggressive attacks on Shipp are misguided or premature at this point, because we don't know anything close to all of the facts.

more accurately in this case "actual malice" which is much higher standard:
"knowledge that the information was false" or that it was published "with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not." Reckless disregard does not encompass mere neglect in following professional standards of fact checking. The publisher must entertain actual doubt as to the statement's truth.

Thanks Stallion for the clarification.

That guy is more misinformed than shipp, and I didn't think that was possible

That blog post is so needlessly inflammatory it literally made me laugh.
Everyone, on all sides, needs to chill out. Unless there's something significant still unmentioned, this is such a non-story it is laughable.

It is a non-story, but outside opinion sees the headline and immediately assumes our entire roster is on payroll without understanding the laughability of the situation

We've
already found inaccuracies in the Shipp report.
I eagerly await this afternoon's response from SMU.

As far as I know it hasn't even been mentioned by an actual sports channel/publication yet, so I'd say we're fine.
Call me when it hits Deadspin or SportsCenter. That's when my friends/colleagues will start asking me about it.

Yes. Based on the most recent story on dallasnews.com, it's seems the blame is now focused on DISD. They're talking about thousands of kids. My guess SMU was mentioned initially to get more interest. I hope.

Can somebody who has Scout key us in on what LB said about Shipp? EJ Holland tweeted it about 20 mins ago
