That one was brutal. Last 3 possessions were horrible

I don't think we played with fear of losing, we just didn't find an answer to the zone defense.

The multiple losses of a 10 pt lead was the most painful part of that game. I hope USC destroys baylor, I guess.

For SMU, it can only end in a brutal heart break... it's what we do

I knew this would happen deep down. Maybe one day we break out of this routine, but what we all feel right now is what being an SMU fan is all about over the past 25-30 or so years across the board.

Shoulda signed on LB as a volunteer to help with these situations. Dude was probably there anyway.

Just stop with this crap. The lack of timeouts called in key moments that allowed momentum to turn, including the last inbound, are patented LB moves. The 3 is the only thing that kept us in the game in the 2nd half as we refused to adjust to the screen and relied on running the 4 corners offense before jacking up off balanced shots.

these are kids, as good as Tim has been as a coach during the season, this one is on him mostly. The TOs don't carry over even when you win, and he should have been the one to help us with the zone and should have brought direction and order to the players once we were up by 2, and Semi created a TO. To lose when you are up by 2 and you have the TOs to use is just inexcusable. No set plays, nothing, just leaves you open to the errors and missed free throws that happened. Why are we not giving the ball to semi in that last minute is beyond me.

I don't remember feeling this way in either Hawaii Bowl or the BBVA Bowl. We are not cursed, our team played a solid USC team today and our players made some bad mistakes at the end.

Hah. Exactly.
I'll thank the guys, especially Ben and Sterling for a great ride that just ended a little too early.
I'll thank Jank for taking them this far.
I'll thank SMU for making a commitment to better basketball.
Certainly we can all point out things that could have been done differently. It's easy in a soft chair with a beer in your hand.
Now lets go out and play better competition...competition like we had today....way more often.

Re: Official NCAA Tourney Thread: SMU vs. USC
Can someone explain our defense on USC's game winning 3? I am really struggling to figure out what Sterling was accomplishing by standing in the lane guarding no one. He pointed to Stewart like he was somebody else's man, but if you don't have a man, and a guy on the other team's standing by himself, chances are you should cover him.

It also really hurt having Ben on the bench for so long with foul trouble. We had zero inside out game against their zone so our looks from three were never clean ones. That was huge.
