DMN: Coverage! Coverage! Coverage!
Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower
We had a woman golfer who came back from a serious injury. We have two Swedish seniors graduating from the Men's tennis team and playing their final matches this weekend. Those stories could have been written even on page 5 by a local paper. The Washington Post had two articles about Maryland lacrosse players (man and woman), and now a front page story about an accused Duke lacrosse player from the DC area. The DMN is trash!!!

No SMU stories have been published recently."
I went to the SMU page on the DMN site today and found this message.

How about a front page headline:
McClown's Head Explodes Upon Announcement of New Basketball Practice Facility.
just a reminder...
there seem to be two points here:
1) The point of the newspaper is to sell newspapers/advertising...
2) If SMU is not generating stories to accomplish point # 1, they will not be covered... not exactly fair, but I think it is darkly accurate from a business perspective. Jounalistic integity or local loyalty has little to do with it, IMHO.

Matt went to Bishop Lynch...therefore a local interest story. We tried to get him. Too bad he didn't come to SMU...he would not have spent his days riding the pine here.mr. pony wrote:Yup. But, we now know UT-ex superstar back-up QB Matt Nordgren signed with the Eagles! Been waiting for that story to play out!!
(He had some legal troubles down there too....)
