J.T.supporta wrote:From what ive been hearing, I think Willis' suspension was due to the consumption of alcohol by a minor.

But this is not 100% confirmed.

He was out late last nite and something occured within campus grounds that warrented his suspension.

If that's true, I bet he's back next week...Even so, I don't get it. Why suspend him for this when 99% of the student population at SMU does the same thing? This isn't exactly Lawrence Phillips we're talking about here, it's alcohol.

Anyone else wanna bet that we won't hear what really happened...much like we'll never really hear what happened with Jimmy Tubbs?

Those of us with college-age kids are familiar with the following:

1) ain't nothin good going on at a party late at night
2) don't do anything to embarrass your family, your school, your team, or yourself
3) if you break the law, there will be consequences

That having been said, Thursday night before the first conference game on the road...what the hell are you doing at a party? Man.

Here's hoping for a QB under center Saturday night and 45-50 carries spread around our RBs.

That is by far the funniest thing you have ever posted. Congatulations on getting a sense of humor about the little mustangs, you are now truly a fan.

Let's just hope it is not anything with alummi and improper payments. I would hate to lose this kid for good. As far as the game is concerned look at it as if JW pulled a hammy during Friday's practice and is unable to play. Except with a moral to the rest of the team for the rest of the year. I also recall Flannigan going down on the first play of a game against Arkansas and SMU winning without even having prior knowledge of needing the 2nd teamer for the whole game. I also recall Arkansas suspending most of there starting backfield before an Orange bowl game against OU and still winning big. SMU has been a team of hope for the past several years. We have not been able to sit back and expect victory since who knows when, and if you recall, most, including the experts were picking us to lose this one before this incident. Do not give up on this team because of the sin of one person. Support, hope and see what happens. Are our chances less now, of course, but that does not mean they should just get on the plane and come home. Slater seems to me from the brief time I have seen him, to have a very strong arm. Are his decisions good and his accuracy adequate, I do not know. But let's at least get to kickoff before we totally give up on this team for the year. That excludes those of you that openly quit as fans after NTSU. Your return is still a matter of probation.

Maybe SMU needs to look at the Florida suspension model - from today's Orlando Sentinel:

I'm shocked -- shocked, I say -- that Florida has overturned the marijuana suspension of its best defensive lineman, tackle Marcus Thomas, just in time for today's biggest game of the year against LSU. How convenient: Thomas was suspended after the Tennessee game and is eligible again before the LSU game. According to UF's drug-testing policy, Thomas was supposed to be suspended for five games, but the suspension was lifted this week by an appeals committee and signed off on by UF's president and athletic director. Makes you wonder who was on this committee -- Mr. Two Bits, Tim Tebow and Albert the Alligator?

Question: Would the suspension be lifted if Thomas were a third-teamer and the Gators were 3-2 and out of the national title race? Answer: Puh-leeze.

Urban Meyer is a good football coach, but can we stop this nonsense about how his program is a model of discipline and integrity? Meyer's Gators are just like every other big-time program in college football, bending and amending rules and policies based upon the caliber of the player and the quality of the competition.

UTEP is not ready for the Slater Martin Duo......I am not even ready for it...... After we win today we will have a ligit QB controversy on our hands.....right?

Wonder who the receiver was that was in the original rumor that started.
I know, Willis and Sanders room together......Guess it doesn't matter.

We will for sure lose if the coaches go back to the same play calling as we did the 1st 2 weeks.
