I'm a Southern University supporter and I would like to say I'm happy to play you all but won't be able to make the trip because the football team play in Arkansas, however SU has over 20,000 alumni in the Houston Area with about 40,000 in the state of Texas. I think the Jags will have support when we play you all in a week and a half on the 10th of November. Now to basketball, Our team return 8 experience players, losing 1 starter and returning 4. We had a solid recruiting class bringing in South Garland's player Barry Honore. We had a nice scrimmage Sunday but the team had crazy turnovers, also one of our starting players or back up bent his finger back. I'm not sure if he broke it or not but I will have to check and find out. Good luck to SMU on a nice season and I hope the Mighty Jags can come to Dallas and get a victory, also the Alabama State Hornets and Prairie View Panthers are LOADED this year, and they are in the same conference as Southern University.

There are some simalarities in our programs. Ours has been way way down but we have a second year coach, Doug Davalos, who is doing a good job of rebuilding. We also have many freshmen on the roster, including a 6-10 center, which gives us size in the middle for the first time in 6 or 7 years. Another good thing for our guys is that we have a lot of players from the metroplex so I am sure they will be happy to play some games at home. I know that the 'Cats played SMU close in 2005 at our place and could have won if we had a good coach, well now we do but we also have a really young team. I think it will be an interesting matchup. I read that some of you aren't happy with your out of conference schedule. Ours isn't too bad this year. We play you guys on the road and another C-USA team, Rice at home and also play Texas A&M and Texas back to back. That will be a killer but I do like screaming my head off at the Erwin Center in Austin every year, although we can't ever pull that game out. Here is the schedule:
