I can't think of a single person that would pick out a marching band uniform and think "that's a cool looking outfit" (and I mean the outfit by itself, not seeing it as a uniform for a marching band). I mean, they are all watered down versions of like an 1850's West Point uniform. YET, people are always quick to ask why the Mustang Band can't just dress like a 'real' marching band. It's not because the TCU/Baylor/OU/FSU uniforms just look so darn cool, it's just that the general population has some internal struggle with a marching band looking like anything other than a marching band. "Ugh, why the candy stripes, that's so silly...why not wear a plume and a sequined sash and tight overall type pants" Huh? I could understand if someone was like "why not wear abercrombie cargo pants and a metallica t-shirt", but arguing that dorky uniform B is dorky because it isn't enough like dorky uniform A doesn't make sense to me.

Apparently you didn't get the memo from the student body: everything is always better at every other school! Let's give the band fuzzy plumes, play just songs that everyone else plays, and replace Peruna with a big horse with a rider! Let's twirl our pony ears around after varsity! Also, a new fight song will 'increase spirit' and it's OK to wear a UT hat to an SMU game because we don't play them every year!

The administration has screwed up football & every other sports' uniforms into anything but SMU. For God's Sake, DON'T SCREW UP THE BAND'S UNIS!!!

They're traditional, unique, sharp, & SMU!!!

Get over it!!!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Fortunately, they eventually outgrow the high school "I wanna be like them" mentality and realize the merits of "classy".

Please Please never ever wear those Red Candy Striped Jackets again. Solid red would be fine.

Have to admit. I love the "candy stripe". It's pure SMU & it's traditional. It goes back alot of years.

That is the uniqueness of The Mustang Band.

If you don't like the uniform, just wait till halftime, it will change. However, if you do like the uniform, it will change at halftime.

So quit complaining about the band uniforms. If you can't live with a uniform for 2 hours, you have more issues than this board can help.
Just send 'da money.

Personally, I can do without the candy stripe and uniform changes at halftime.
