Vanderbilt Commitment Updates Status

By Andrew Bone
Scout.com
Date: Dec 19, 2007

Taylor Thompson, three-star tight end from Prosper, Texas, gave his commitment to Vanderbilt during the summer. Thompson could not make it to Nashville to attend any games, but will return to Nashville in January. He talks about his senior season and Vanderbilt coaches who have visited.

We didn't have a coach to recruit him back then.
GO MUSTANGS!

FIGHT ON!

There can't be that many Taylor Thompson's living in Prosper, TX. :( Bad news, Mustang fans.

from the Prosper, TX city web site http://www.prospertx.gov/ :

Dated May 27, 2008

The Prosper Police Department arrested four local teens for their alleged role in the
Burglary of a house in which more than $15,000 worth of damage had been caused to
the interior after it had been unlawfully entered. The house is located in the Greens
Point/ Collinsbrook Farm area of Prosper. Dylan Davis 18, Ross Herblin 18, Adam
Lancaster 18, and Taylor Thompson 18, all of Prosper, were arrested at Prosper High
School, 300 Eagle Lane today at around 10:30 a.m. “The arrest was a culmination of an
ongoing investigation and applying some useable information that was received from
various sources within the community,â€

The way I hear it, the house was abandoned or empty, and some kids went in. Mischief, at best. You don't miss a practice for this at some schools!

Excuse me, I'm sure Prosper, Texas has a great police department, but an arrest is not a conviction. You've been watching too much TV. Let's let the legal system work its wonder before we do an American Idol conviction.

Who said he's been 'convicted'?

Police are reporting that Taylor Thompson, 18, will

be prosecuted as an adult for a first-degree felony.

A golden opportunity wasted. :(

Wasn't this kid recruited by Vanderbilt and other really top flight academic institutions? You'd think he'd be smarter than to pull a stunt like this. There goes his future in one stupid action as an 18 year old.
Back off Warchild seriously.

He can plead it down to a misdemeanor and be here for 2-a-days.

Police do not prosecute. They arrest. The game of bargining begins. I predict he will be ok.

This will be pled down, I believe the DA is just putting the fear of God into these guys, so long as the "unoccupied house" theory holds true, and there are certainly enough unoccupied/unfinished houses in Prosper.

Now, if the DA was passed over for the J.V. squad back in the day, maybe these boys are done for!

Ha. Scoops has it right. Some kids went somewhere they shouldn't have - criminal mischief? trespassing? - and raised a little hell. Nothing stolen, no drugs, nobody hurt or assaulted, etc. Kids being kids. Nobody here ever did anything like this? Oh, right - I did, I just wasn't a scholarship athlete. Supposedly he's even helping to fix the place, which I'm sure the judge will be made aware of. He'll get a slap on the wrist, do some community service or something (which is about right), and he'll be here running his tail off with his teammates.

Better to learn the realities of responsibilities now than two years from now, when our player friendly faculty and SMU friendly DMN could really blow it out of proportion.
