D'oh! But, hey.... remember that you made it through St. Patrick's Day, that should give you hope for the future.

I dipped Copenhagen for 20 yrs (1985-2005). At my peak, the end, I was doing a can of Cope a day, and I got to where I didn't even have to spit, I would just swallow it, which is bad news, because unlike smokers it means you can just dip anywhere, the grocery store, church, whatever.
I used the Commit lozenges to quit. But I made a decision to not follow the directions on the box. I bought one box of 72 lozenges and said that's it, this is the only box I will buy, I have to make these last until I am done with nicotene. The first week I took 6 lozenges a day. Second week I forced myself to only take 3 lozenges a day, which is a huge step. Third week I said I'm only taking 1 lozenge a day, for 7 days, and the extra leftover 2 lozenges are only to be used when I absolutely feel like I'm going to strangle somebody. I used them all, but I quit. Coming up on three yrs. And I only paid $27 on ebay for lozenges. And I did not take "one an hour for 3 weeks" like the box said, that's a good way to get addicted to lozenges. Good luck Thad, expony and smupony94, if you stick to it, you will eventually feel sorry for smokers/dippers and your addiction will transfer over to alcoholism like me.

Damn, I've already got that one.
The hardest thing for me is that I started drinking and smoking at the same time (age 20 my sophomore year at SMU), so they are just intrinsically linked for me it's sickening.

Realize that you have a built in support group with this board. If you get the urge to smoke, just get on ponyfans.com and talk to your fellow former smokers. There are plenty of us to help you.
And now I am off to see Austin Peay beat UT and St. Marys whoop up on Miami.

I have failed you all. Had three cigarettes when I was out for work happy hour (happy night?) last night. But my commitment to quit, and stay quit is probably stronger for it.
First of all, I didn't enjoy them. Secondly, I woke up coughing.... I hate that.
My cousin, a former smoker, told me - just yesterday - to go out and buy some tea tree oil sticks and have them with me anytime I go out drinking. He did it for years and still buys them from time to time. Basically - he said it's something to do with my hands and to put in my mouth.
So needless to say, I will be buying some tea tree oil sticks before next Thursday night.... or earlier if I don't go out this weekend - which may be likely considering that I am closing in on my personal deadline to get
Josephine completed.
-----
Anyway, stay strong '94. Back to day zero for me. Darn it.

Hang in there, Thaddeus. I'm glad to hear you didn't enjoy the cigarettes. I smoked briefly (but had no trouble giving it up because I think it lasted less than a year). Now I can't stand to be around smoke. It makes my eyes water and I start coughing. I wish you luck!
