I agree with you that the top of the WAC has been better than the top of the MWC and C-USA. However, as a Hawaii fan I hate that Utah State, Idaho, NMSU, La Tech, etc. drag down the strength of schedule for the conference teams. That almost cost Hawaii dearly in the BCS standings last season.
Its kind of like that in all 3 conferences. You have your best 2 or 3 teams vying for championships but the lower half of the schools just arent that good...it will be interesting to see which conference has the better year.

I agree with those that say the MWC is the best non BCS - however the gap between them and WAC/CUSA is narrowing - and it is worth adding that the MWC being better does not mean it is the best place for TCU - and it is definately not the best place for us. I have heard a TON of grumbling from TCU almuni and current students lamenting the ridiculous geographic spread of the conference - combined with the black hole that is MWC media coverage - combined with bad bowls and bad TV. Nobody in the country cares about MWC becasue they play where nobody lives. That is why - despite MWC's better football - CUSA has better TV and better bowl tie-ins.
I would never want to go back to the WAC or even consider the MWC. There is absolutely no reason to do so. It would accomplish nothing - as TCU has realized too late.

While I agree with the rest of your comments, I would dispute that the gap is narrowing-in fact its getting wider especially against CUSA West which simply is a nationally non-competitive conference that has not shown the ability to compete with Top 25 type programs. For example, the Sagarin Ratings show that while there was an average 5 point gap per team between the MWC and CUSA in 2005 and 2006, that gap jumped to a 10 point average gap per team in 2007. In fact, MWC was closer to ALL BCS conferences in 2007 than CUSA was to MWC. Further, there were 5 teams in MWC that easily were higher ranked than the best team in CUSA West(Tulsa). CUSA West schools must become more competitive in recruiting to improve the stature of the conference.

Good gawd. Football, football, football, football . . . .
Someone should read my posts. I am not arguing which FB conference is better. My premise is that MWC is not a good fit for TCU and that eventually, TCU will regret the move. This is especially true for all their sports (begging the question of FB for the moment), as well as for their student-athletes, parents, fans, students, etc.
The Frogs left CUSA after many good FB seasons, when their ego got the better of them, i.e. hubris.
Time is not on their side.
