Obviously our new transfer policy works...
lets focus on keeping him and the rest of the team eligible...this has become more of an issue....

Hopefully this helps primes the DISD pipeline as well... a local kid in a star role and a couple of wins can do wonders.

I love it when we keep local studs around....as rare as that has been. I would like to see Doherty land one too.

Nacho, you called me out on info I gave to be correct. You are Braden's little brother. Bo is going to be QB next year and Braden is going to be backing him up. Why does that bother you?

Unbelievable. The team is having problems making grades? Absolutely ridiculous. For $100,000 - $120,000 education, they need to not only be eligible, but a cut above it. I'm not looking for Phi Beta Kappa, but c'mon. Until SMU is winning consistently, something has to play right. Grades ought to be the least of SMU's worries.

This isn't a sermon. It's adulthood. My 11 year old understands it clearly: no make grades, no play sports (nor Wii, XBox, PS2, Cellphone, or IPod). So tell me (rhetorically speaking), why in the bloody hell shouldn't we expect it of athletic scholarship athletes?
This generation's sense of self-entitlement exceeds even the expectations of my generation. Remedial education in universities? Why are we even discussing the
possibility of a
team having eligibility issues?

I'm all for remedial classes. My new mantra for our athletic program is that kids should show significant improvement from the time they arrive until the time they leave. I'd admit Dexter Manley but make sure he could read proficiently by the time he left (versus Ok State where he couldn't read after leaving).
If virtually no one else cares whether their football & basketball players can hack real collegiate academia, why should we? For 20 years, we get our butts kicked and I respond that our athletes were better students than theirs. This was always followed by a good hearty laugh. Let great students who are marginal D1 talents play at a lower level. Otherwise we're competing on an uneven field where we'll never be competitive. Either take academic risks or move down a level ourselves.

This kid has a ton of baggage with which to deal. I welcome him to SMU and wish him well; however, it will take a special kid and mucho support for him to succeed.

Wow. Only SMU can have a QB contriversy that will be decided on who gives the best chance to win at least two.

I love how "braden's little brother" joined the board in 2000. I think Nacho just likes whoever the backup QB is, he was calling for turner all year last year.
