Stop it counselor. Where you are going, others shouldn't follow. Read above.

What was our record last year?
Ah, the edit button is a wonderful tool. I use it often myself.

Sure it is. That's why I pointed the revision out to you.
Well, for what it's worth, I pretty much agree with the edited version. I still don't think a guy with one win over a D-2 team get much kudos though. But I will not single him out as the reason for the record, just one of many.
I was not a BLM fan at the end of the year last season. I said I thought he did not have "IT". If he starts this year, I’m sure he will; I will be a BLM fan until I see a replay of last year. I want to be positive and believe that a miraculous change is possible if everyone else clicks in for him. Because if he’s not any different, and the supporting players don’t pick up their game. It gona be a lonnnnnnng season.

All of that is fair. I also think when Jones looked at that roster and the schmos who, in his apparent estimation, were committed to everything but the success of the football program, he realized this was a bigger task than even he thought and probably thought,
"Well, if this what we have, might as well get my philosophy going with the players I brought in and start from there.''
In spring ball they will both look equally stellar and/or mediocre because of who is on the other side of the line. The focus for fans should be on the fact that spring ball is here, and not trying to evaluate the quality of the participants. We should petition for a spring Boulevard to coincide.
while spring practice is always fun for fans of the program, the original topic was speculating on fall lineups. My guess is that several incoming FR will work their way into the 2-deep rotation, if not starting lineups.
for all the criticism of JJ's going with so many FR last year (must admit I was surprised at the extent to which he burned guys redshirts), go back and check out his early comments. He was pretty clear in saying he wasn't going to measure the teams's progress in terms of wins/losses. That told me pretty loud and clear that we were in for another long season.
I think it's a pretty safe bet that JJ will play younger guys (his recruits) if the competition is even close at any position. He's got a comfortable 5 yr deal to "get it done" here and we should look for improvement this year (maybe winning a CUSA game and being more competitive in our losses). Realistically, we should be looking at 2010 before this team can even think about being a .500 team
Hope I'm wrong, but if this 2009 team wins more than 2-3 games, it will be because several FR come in here and surprise us (in terms of being ready to compete RIGHT AWAY with CUSA talent) and because several returning players make HUGE strides in their performance

Ask NTSU.
Didn't they beat a d-1 team last year?
I was only remarking on the defense. I believe they were they only team in the nation ranked below us, so yes, it can get worse. Hopefully it will not.

What happened to my thread? For all the new posters out there this is what you can expect on any subject. You start a thread, somehow BLM gets brought up and shot down along with JJ because he really doesn't know what he is doing; Stallion will chime in about how cool Rivals is, there will be more Bo bashing and then Myrdel will tell a joke.
Everything wil be cool, as long as you don't have an opinion, because everyone that has been on here since 2000 has each others back.

That's a very broad brush you are painting with...
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Uh oh...we've been called out.
George Bush is terrible. Barack Obama is a hack. Sarah Palin is hot and would look boss in a G-string. Biden would not.
Okay, I think I have written enough to get this thread the nuke...now newbies can understand what it's like to lose a bunch of posts. Then they will really experience the board in all its splendor!
