I'm 22 and I'm pretty sure my brain is fully developed (30 - 22 = 8 > 0; 22 < 30). I think Peruna rocks and he needs to stay, regardless.

As a side note, in honor of everyone saying "Its Tradition!," I think the band should do the "Fiddler on the Roof" halftime show.

Funny thing is, the vast majority of the SMU community ranges from neutral to very pro Peruna...the group that actually wants the two full size horses (don't dishonor a real mustang by calling them mustangs) is VERY small. Put it to a vote on Saturday at the game and you will see...

Difference is June wants it and no one stood up to him to tell him to worry about how to win more than 1 FBS game in 1 and a half years instead of what size of horse we have.

This is just going to turn into an embarassing fiasco that will be abandoned and create bad blood...

Stupid idea from the get go and you have to wonder who is in charge that lets things like this get this far.

class of '72 and that is when the movie Godfather came out. I wouldn't want to see the 'tamed mustang' get wacked and his head placed in someone bed.
you know, just saying, wouldn't want to see that, you know what I mean.

Its so ridiculous to keep going on and on over this. Changing what kind of equine leads the team out onto the field will neither generate wins nor generate losses. I think we should be more concerned with our offense turnover problems than the mascot on the field.

But in my opinion get a smoking hot broad with huge knockers in a bikini riding the new horse, I think that would change the minds of some haters out there

Yeah...you are right...she would look great running along side Peruna as he heads across the field after every touchdown.

SWC Grey Hair wrote:The riders are going to be the horses' trainers for the Navy game because the horses are still very unsettled and it would be dangerous for anybody else to ride them. They will only attend the halftime for the presentation to Turner by the Pickens.

You will not see them again until next year. This is their only appearance for this year as they have to further trained and the decisions made as to how to use them in addition to Peruna. The students will decide on the names later in the school year.

He is correct.

well when you old geezers die in 20 years, there will be no smu fanbase

disagree. First do not fool yourself into believing that Peuna is not being "retired". There are no rainbows floating around Hawaii other than the real ones. And second, how do you dismiss one of your children just because they do not measure up to what someone else thinks they should be. Peruna is the mascot. You do not just wish that away. I do not comprehend the thinking behind abandoning a member of the SMU family just because you think he, she or it is not big enough, or tough looking enough. You want big, fast, powerful and authentic. Then let the kids run out behind a 1968 Ford Mustang. At least it will be the real thing rather than a de-balled, shod, former mustang.
