I watched both games and Padron did look like a different QB vs. Tulsa. I'm sure starting a game as opposed to coming in mid-game was a factor. Houston also put more pressure on him knowing we needed to throw on every down, and he was also being subbed in and out with Smith. Padron looked as good as BLM has ever looked, considering that BLM throws an "interceptable" ball at least once every 10 throws. Minimizing mistakes and maintaining composure are big factors in why Padron would probably get the start this week even if BLM were healthy.

I hope we don't have to see Bo "Pooslinger" Mitchell again this year unless it is because Padron is physically unable to play. BLM is a solid backup, but I think we need to rally around Padron since he appears to be the future.

Maybe I'm just being a prude, but comments like "Pooslinger" seem COMPLETELY uncalled for. Yes, he made mistakes. He was at the helm for a game we probably should have won (WSU), but he was also at the helm for a game (ECU) which, at the time, we had no business winning.
Padron is going to make mistakes, too. Count on it. I am as excited about his potential as anyone, but it doesn't mean I'm going to flat out insult the other quarterback. I have no reason to believe BLM ever gave us anything other than his very best.
IF it turns out that his very best is not as good as Padron's very best (and I do happen to believe that this will be the case), then so be it... but let's not act like Tech fans. Their treatment of Taylor Potts this year has been nothing short of shameful.

You're always one play away from having the backup taking the snaps
bottomline we need both ready to go but I expect Padron to start

Well, let's be fair. Potts is terrible. But the fans criticism of him has been WAY outside the lines.
Baron Batch won that game for Tech, darn near single handedly.

I'll support whoever JJ decides to put out there. It was meant to be more of a joke than an insult. I just think that BLM's performance thus far hasn't been what we have hoped for, considering he is the "most accurate QB I've ever seen on tape" according to JJ

I prefer to think of our fan base as above the fray when it comes comments about 19 - 22 year old players.
I've been on the other side of the line and regardless of the "don't read, listen, or believe" what is said by the media or fans --- you do. Some handle it better than others, but they all know the sentiment of the fans.
BLM can throw - no question. We've dropped a few on him, but let's make sure he has a tremendous backing when he comes back in a game.
We're gonna need him to play well. Just like everyone else.
PONY UP!

let's play the hot hand and go with KP over Pooslinger.
If we can just stay strong in the game and keep the momentum up, anything can happen

everybody in the country including Lou Holtz claimed that Potts was the next great superstar after the UT game. His stats are excellent-a lot better than Bo Levi Mitchell-yes he had a few bad outings but I'd love to have him. He's hit 67% of his passes and has an efficiency rating of 142. He has 20 TDs in about 6 games of plays. The point is his starting career is young. Too many want to judge a QB too early or write him off due to a few bad outings. And yet the new phenom Steven Sheffield lead Texas Tech to its second worst Total Offense performance in the 10 year Mike Leach era and yet he is considered a God in Lubbock. We'll see.

Fence straddling? I have never been a fan of BLM at all. You should know since you were the one who sent me a PM insulting me when I criticized your boyfriend Bo. You can go back and will be hard pressed to find a posting of mine where I have talked about how much I like him/believe in him. I will support the Mustangs regardless of who is playing QB, or else I wouldn't be a true fan. I'm not going to support my team any less because of who JJ decides to start. I think BLM sucks, but if thats who JJ wants to start, there is nothing I can do about it. In essence, your post makes no sense. Thanks for coming out though.

Padron is still a true freshman and while he has a lot of great things going for him, Rice now has some film to see if there is anything to exploit and if there is, they will try. Its not how well you do the first week, its how you do each week after that. If KP improves, it will put JJ in a nice conundrum. BLM has some strengths and weaknesses as well. I guess my view is that with a separated shoulder, that injury can hamper you for years if not allowed to heal properly. Although it is not BLM's throwing arm, he should be only used in an emergency for the rest of the season. Padron has shown he is a more than adequate back-up. Then next spring let the QB controversy ensue.
