This bears repeating. I'm convinced that the reason we see so many drops on short passes is because BLM has such an awkward release - it takes some distance for his throws to settle into a spiral.

While I'll admit that QBR is a flawed stat, it is interesting to notice that Pardon's first start (and even in his Houston effort) he put upp better QBR numbers than Mitchell managed any of his games.
Since BLM didn't have a redshirt year, he may well consider transfering next year if he thinks he can get in and start in another program. Remember when Corey Slater left us to light it up after the 2006 season? Anyhow, McDermott is here to stay, so if Kyle takes this job away, I can see Bo taking his ball and going home. It might just be too crowded for him.
Potential 2009 QB Depth Chart:
Kyle Padron - Starter
Bo Levi Mitchell - Experienced Backup
Braden Smith - Journeyman back-up
JJ McDermot - Waterboy.
Stephen Kaiser -Reshirt Towel boy.

Todd dodge can coach those QB's can't he. I wonder what it would take to get him to come to SMU after his NT tenure to be QB coach? And to think, if Bo hadn't got hurt, it might have been 3 more years before Kyle would have played a down. Padron doesn't have near the arm strength of Bo but who cares! He throws catchable passes (maybe those bullets of Bo's caused some of the drops, you still should catch em wr's) with touch and accuracy in most cases, didn't seem to force throws into coverage, made touchdown plays with his scrambling ability to throw short escape passes to Cole and Shawbrey that turned into long td passes and was very composed in the pocket. Kudos to the off line and offensive support and again, way to go defense and special teams....oh and you too coaches! It is a great time to be a mustang. How many more on the roster like Kyle who only need a chance! Some guys are practice heros and then some guys can flat out play when the bullets are flying and the pressure is on. Congratulations Kyle and way to keep fighting Beasley. These coaches are learning how to win.

Any team that has a decent program will have a qb to compete with that is as good as Padron - so dont know what Bo would gain by leaving. There is no need overly criticize our own players - its not like Bo wasn' able to lead this team to a few wins. Padron looked better this particular outing -and may even have won the job - but having Bo ready to go in the wings is good also - the competition will help them both - and help our program. You can bet with this offense JJ wants at least 2 guys that can step in. QB is among the most likely position to experience an injury - so Bo would be wise to bide his time and wait for his turn again. Then if he can get that knack of making better reads he can easily develop.

The coaches know how to win, they have done it before elsewhere. It is the team that is learning how to finish games and win.

Isn't that the truth. Haven't had a game all year (minus houston maybe) where we weren't in it at least through half the game. Just gotta close. Padron stayed solid where BLM has faded in the 2nd halves

Just a prediction with all this crap about Padron...JJ will start BLM if he is cleared by the Dr's. He's not stupid.

At this point, with what we have seen, JJ would be stupid to start BLM

Nothing against Bo but even if he is cleared we need to stay with Padron until proven otherwise.

Are the Dr's going to check BLM's vision and give him corrective lenses? You previously came on here and stated that BLM had bad vision; seems that you were wrong about that one.

No way. Reading on Pony Pride and Pony Stampede it seems like JJ has been waiting for a chance to get Padron in the game now that he has had some time to learn the Offense.

I wish. But my gut says BLM. We'll see what happens.
