Do you really believe we can get 20,000 SMU fans to go to Memphis?
I do.
Not just SMU grads, you understand. But SMU "fans" that would come out of the woodwork for this one.

So we can't get 20,000 SMU fans to a home game but we can get them to Memphis. I know conservative traditionalists don't drink or smoke dope. But man that is a rather generous prediction for SMU. Please tell me you are just being anti JJ. If for nothing else but credibility.

Gee, man. Getting a little tense?
I'm not anti-JJ. I'm pro-SMU.
We can get 20,000 to a bowl game in Memphis as conference champions.
Sure, we can.
And who says conservative traditionalists don't drink?

Re: Jones' Hawaii Bowl Jones - cusa-fans.com
Don't drink, curse or smoke dope right?
But I do think you are way off. I do think you are wearing JJ out on out on the CUSA site,

All right...let's all get behind the team and cheer them on to the conference championship. If after that an arrangement is made to go to Hawaii, then so be it. You and I have no say in the matter. Right now I am more concerned about winning the championship than what bowl we wind up in. Can I go to Hawaii...probably not, but being conference champs with that trophy sitting in our trophy case will feel very good and will certainly help with recruiting.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I think you guys are forgetting that a lot of alums don't live in Texas anymore who will come to the first bowl game in droves (if it isn't on Christmas Eve in Hawaii). I have 5 people already committed to go to any bowl on the mainland from one text message I sent out yesterday. None of whom live in Texas and have not been back for a home game in several years. That will probably include additional tickets for significant others for a few of them, and I am sure we will recruit quite a few more if a mainland bowl actually happens.
Remember we are only a few weeks out from not having beat an D1A opponent in several years. The past couple of years it has been hard to justify a trip back for a game while everyone has been in grad school, buying houses, starting families, and getting their careers started. We have all been watching games online or the few times we have been on tv. Just because they don't all post on ponyfans doesn't mean they aren't all out there following the program and hoping for this to happen.

Ditto - shadowman!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Could be JJ would rather play a WAC team and win rather than an SEC and lose, like he did in the Sugar Bowl a couple years back.

Completely agree with Diamond M.
JJ, for some reason, has a knack for riling up everyone over things he doesn't have to even mention or get involved in.

You guys know I support SMU when you aren't playing TCU but are you kidding me? Running from an SEC team to play a lesser opponent in a lesser bowl game??? Jones needs to grow a pair. I can't believe most of you seem ok with this...and I do hope you win out!

I think I would rather play Auburn than Nevada right now...

We are speculating on that Reed. You should know that. But you guys are in a position to play anybody. We are not that talented but play together with good chemistry. I really like getting advice from people who are already established and forgot where they came from.
