what does per capita have to do with it? We only need one (point guard that is). Like i said, I'm from Illinois, but this isn't a pride debate about who plays better basketball per capita. Its a debate about the progress at SMU and the way to build a program at SMU.

Per capita has a lot to do with it when Stallion makes numbers-based arguments as to why Texas basketball is better than Illinois basketball without taking into account the size of the populace

fine, but you are making Stallions point for him: SMU has a bigger pool of good players in its backyard than most! The point is Texas has more capita. Its not like we are filling a 20 man roster while Illinois State is filling a 12 man roster. Even without all the vultures, it should be easier to find a few good men whose mamas want them to stay home in Dallas. The vultures recruit Illinois too if not more because its a "basketball state"...

I interpreted Stallion's point to be that kids from Texas are better basketball players because they are from Texas, hence him saying that you'd find people that aren't "5'8" midgets" in Texas and that "There are better players in DFW and there are better players in Texas."

That's not what I said;
Stallion: "you can find guys all over Texas just as good and not 5-8 midgets -and the likelihood that he would attract other kids from Chicago is miniscule. The schools having success in this part of the country are recruiting Texas or at least the vicinity."

2009
Texas
Total Commitments: 69
BSC Commitments: 20 plus a Memphis commitment
Illinois
Total Commitments: 37
BCS Commitments: 9

According to ESPN, there are only 4 PGs better than harris in Texas...they committed to Mizzo, OU, Tech, and LSU...
So, I am not sure were you are hiding them, but there aren't many PGs just as good in Texas this year...

LOL, and this has been my point the entire time. Well said.
The reality that Stallion doesn't digest is that SMU, as a high mid(CUSA), probably isn't getting much deeper then 30 or so in the rankings for a kid, unless it's a special evaluation. Of those top 30 Texas kids, close to 15 are high major kids that we'd have to steal from a BCS. 15-30 are just evaluations. Do you like the #24 kid in Texas, a 5'11 PG, or the #5 player in Illinois or whatever.
To blindly just say there are plenty of other 5'8 midgets in Texas, just as good, is fallacy. There are maybe 5 PGs in Texas on Fabs level. Of the 4 you mention, 2 may not even be better then Fab (see KC Ross Miller & Bean Willis). Meanwhile, the #1 PG in Texas is a 5'8 midget.

Fabyon was a Reggie Brown guy. He's on Jonathan Holmes as well. Loyd is a Reggie Geary kid. Lutz was Leslee Smith, Pats and Vilde.
