I have an idea. Lets recruit players who have a great high school and/or possibly JC background who are good athletes but also have put in the work in the classroom for this opportunity. Recruiting guys who are going to be gone in a year or two due to academic reasons is not the way to go and is a disservice to the kid and his SMU teammates. They are out there but as a recruiter you have to be willing to work. Maybe we need some cerebral types on the staff who can relate to these types of players.

Josh was never considered an academic risk during his recruitment. In fact, he was a pretty solid bet who almost chose Stanford over SMU based on Academics. I don't know what happened between then and now, but the problem certainly was not something that could have been known during recruitment.

Dose not the fact that there was an appeal of this matter indicate that perhaps there was more to it than just over sleeping or lack of study habits? Without knowing the reason, it is hard to speculate on why this occured.

Hope the tutors know their jobs as for NOT doing their homework for them. We don't need a scandal such as that on the horizon.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Anyone know how many tutors the LEC has?
I read where Alabama recently hired its 48th .... for football only.
I'm no math graduate, but that sounds like each tutor has a full-time gig tutoring about three players - and that's including walk-ons.

My guess is that it's fewer than 22.

My guess is it's fewer than 10 - for all sports.
