Portland keeper loses her bearings a bit leading to a decent chance for SMU, but really no danger.

SMU reduced to sending long balls for any offensive threat - which isn't really working with Portland's speed advantage across the board.

The defense is still really solid though!

Overall, a decent display by SMU, especially playing the final 20 minutes on 10 women.

Final shot totals:

Portland 16 (7 on net)
SMU 3 (2 on net)

which, realistically, is probably a fair reflection of the game.

SMU kept the defense compact (often with 7 or 8 in the box) and also relied on two or three huge saves by Courtney Webb.

Both of Portland's goals were good goals and there really wasn't much SMU could do about them.

SMU just didn't take advantage of the two or three good offensive chances we had.

Hopefully the 20 minutes of 10 players won't wear us out too much for the game against Oregon Sunday.

SMU made a game of it. It was obvious which team was #5 in the nation, but the Mustang's improvement since last year is significant.
