if Tulsa can't get Malzahn I keep coming back to Mike Leach. They might pay about as much as Texas Tech wouldn't. Tulsa just might bite when other schools wouldn't

Reason Leach doesn't have job is due to texting violations....After what happened with kelvin sampson a couple ears back I don't see Tulsa taking that risk...

I would think Malzhan would be better served to stay at Auburn and wait for a more high profile job to become available in the next year or two.

Tulsa tends to go after younger coaches who are on the rise. Would be VERY surprised if they even glanced sideways at Leach.

They may promote from within. The other rumor is that they rehire Kragthorpe. Malzahn is of course everyone's favorite, but I don't see him going to Tulsa. Who knows, he may end up at Michigan.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Former Miami offensive coordinator Mark Whipple is in the final stages of negotiations to become Connecticut's next head coach, according to a UConn athletic department official.

Whipple, 53, was let go by Miami after Shannon was fired at the end of the season. Whipple also coached Massachusetts to the 1998 Division I-AA championship.

Whipple would replace Randy Edsall, who took the job at Maryland after leading UConn to an 8-5 season and a berth in the Fiesta Bowl.

Did Kragthorpe remove himself from the pool of candidates or did Tulsa remove him? I thought that would have been the smartest move for both parties. Much like Mike Riley with Oregon State.

Isn't this the guy that was involved in the big controversy as to whether or not he squeezed the Charmin?
