I have looked in on practice a few times this season, and in the little bit I have seen, Kaiser looked pretty good. It's hard to tell in practice, when everyone knows the plays and the defense doesn't hit, but if nothing else, it looks like he has a pretty strong, live arm, and his accuracy looked good while I watched.
Of course nobody on here has a clue how he or any of the other quarterbacks do learning the offense, in film sessions and position meetings. Spring ball should be really interesting. Hope Padron's back is better by then, but I'm looking forward to seeing Pride's reports on the young quarterbacks, too.

He won't see the field. This is not a stretch. You don't even need inside information. Our starting quarterback this year had, at times, very, very difficult struggles on the field. Even then, June never even possibly maybe kind of considered bringing him in. The same June that didn't think twice about using BLM & Padron as true freshman. Not even for a single series, or a single down.
Your QBs next year, barring hugely unforeseen events, are Padron, Preston, and should he sign a LOI Burcham.

No, I'm just saying he isn't going to get onto the field. Beyond that, I have no clue about anything. If he's happy here, awesome. Hope he stays and gets a great education and works hard.

Kaiser must not have been seen as an option for whatever reason, clearly. With McD missing entire or the majority of weeks of practice you have to wonder. Or perhaps June, thinking Preston is really #2 after McD does not want to insert Kaiser or burn Preston's redshirt.
Curious.

I will be shocked, SHOCKED if Burcham plays next year given his ACL injury this year and the fact that he is only a freshman next year. It appears to take some time to learn JJ's system and we are in REAL trouble if we have to start a freshman next year!

Re: STEPHEN KAISER: Coming back strong
There is no way they will play burcham. Develop him through practice, and give him pointers when KP and Gilbert are starting in their respective years. Those two QBs are our future starters, and we have some potential to replace them as captains. Im really excited for '12-'16.
Also: I take a sick, inexperience kaiser over McDermott.
Also2: Why are most of you guys writing off Gilbert? I know he sucked at UT because he was similar to Padron, lost redshirt, got hurt, and coach had no faith. I think he will come back with determination here at SMU and will make a great 1 or 2 years that he might have.

Re: STEPHEN KAISER: Coming back strong
Umm we're talking about next year, you know, 2012. Unless you want to vacate every game he plays in, Gilbert isn't a factor next year. Burcham, who hasn't even signed, is coming off of an ACL injury. Therefore, next year, your viable QBs to see the field are:
Padron
Preston
Kaiser isn't sick. Kaiser was sick- last year. This article from Pride was done last February. He has been over it and practicing for quite a while. June has not, and very, very likely will not ever put him in. Swing and a miss on June. That was sorely evident this year. That isn't going to magically change overnight. So unless JJ McD applies & gets a waiver for next year, you've got:
Padron
Preston
Burcham (ish)
