back when i was courting Mrs Dutch ,we used to drive out to Tioga to go to Clarks. good stuff, good times.

So Baker's is definetly servicable, Mac's on Main St is really good, Also I have a friend who says the place inside shed 2 at the farmers market is better then the Salt Lick outside of Austin. I've had the Salt Lick which i think is the best in the country so I'm excited to try the one in the farmers market but it's only open thursday-Sunday

I'm keeping these names in mind for the next time I visit Dallas but hope someone who reads this thread can help me.

My favorite BBQ in Dallas was at Salih's, later Solly's to be PC, and their final location I knew about was in Addison on Beltline near the Toll Road. Many years earlier they had started in Preston Center and I grew up liking thir food.

Before the Addison location closed when they lost their lease or some such I used to stop there on the way to DFW and get a package of ribs, etc., to take home with me.

With that introduction, my question is this. Has Salih's reopened somewhere and I don't know about it? And, has any other BBQ stand taken over their sauce? And, who anyone suggest a current BBQ place with similar sauce?

Maybe so, although I wonder if that is not the address for some sort of corporate shell. The news article (link below) about the death of the owner did not mention a current venue. If anyone has visited the location given, I'd like a repport.

Probably the residence of the deceased owner or his heir, then. Certainly the location seems related to the last location in Addison although restaurant, which was near the Toll Road (building was still there last time I drove past), and residence are some distance apart across North Dallas.

The news article about the death of the owner has much the same information as I related and more details. If anyone ever hears of a BBQ place that has the Salih;s sauce and recipes I'd say it is worth a try.

What an unbelievable life that guy led. His parents were divorced, mother wanted custody but the dad got it and then dumped them at a boys home. Got his drivers license at age 12...

New Lockhart Smokehouse in Bishop Arts (corner of 8th and Bishop) has been here almost 2 months now and is serving up some fine "real deal" central Tx BBQ. My favs are the brisket/shoulder clod and Kreuz sausage, yep thats right they serve Kreuz sausage (jalapeno and original) that is shipped in every few days. Place does meat the right way with a great rub and long, slow post oak smoking at no more than 250*. Go get your meat coma on.
