Plus have you seen the split mustang design on the back?...awesome! SMU doesn't make gear this cool, too bad.

Great question. I chose a scarf for two reasons 1) I've been to a few different MLS stadiums and despite attendance problems, despite soccer's general 3rd tier popularity, despite the fact that families with younger children tend to be the majority of fans...they have the best fans and I have more fun in those games than I have ever had at any football stadium, college or pro. All these MLS teams have Supporter's Groups who have scarves, dance, waive flags, and cheer throughout the game. SMU has almost the exact same problems as MLS has as far as fan attendance but Supporter's Groups have solved at least the experience part of the equations...ergo, SMU needs a Supporter's Group. 2) I wanted something that would have a big effect on television and on the field: I wanted both teams to notice us, coaches to notice us, cameras to notice us, fans to notice us, and I wanted to be something hard to ignore. Given the choice of a scarf or a t-shirt, I thought the scarf packed more punch. Plus I didn't want to have to print out a t-shirt for a Red Out, a Blue Out, a White Out ($$), the scarf could have both colors and so I just needed one per member. And I wanted something unique for SMU. I wanted members to have something immediately distinguishing. I have found that there are a lot of fans who remain quiet at games for fear of appearing different or getting dirty looks, but secretly want to be loud and support the Mustangs. I wanted them to be able to locate and join up with Members at games...safety in numbers. T-Shirts, less so.

....good answer. Are any more scarves (scarfs ?) available ( I already have one) so I can outfit a family member for the trip over to Cowtown ?

I'm working on this. Last week I introduced my group to Ashley Stone who is the administrator who heads the freshman "Mustang Eleven". The freshman think this back-and-forth thing is pretty cool...and the cheerleaders like "Pony" "Up" (not my favorite)...I'm going to email Ashley before the Tulane game and see if we can make this dream come true then.

Pony/Up sucks. Loving the Red/Blue & S/M/U idea.

Thanks! Did you notice the bisected mustang logo gets "closed" when worn over the shoulders...I was so stoked about doing that. Join and get yours before it gets cold...(please, dear Dios)

Side-note: These would be killer at SMU soccer games...just saying. With enough members we can start expanding to other sports.

I still find it hilarious how much we all hated the Pony Up thing and now it's become the redheaded step child cheer...

Agree. I hate the "Pony Up" up in all shapes and forms, but especially as a cheer. "PAY!" "MORE MONEY!"...I don't get it. I like the "RED!" "BLUE!" and "S!" "M!" "U!"..."MUS!" "STANGS!" could be cool. I have the attention of the Mustang Eleven...now I just need to cull the "PONY!" "UP!" cheer from the cheerleader's minds.

Scarves comes with RBA membership, which is $30.00.

Our membership has been doubling nearly every two months. Think of us as the militant wing of PonyFans.com. Get enough of us together and we can take some of the ideas we espouse on here and honestly turn them into reality.

Seriously. You need one of those Men in Black flashy things...

I'll just steal and hide their signs.

CoxMustangFan wrote:Just got my Red and Blue Army stuff in the mail (very quick shipping guys). The scarf looks great. In fact my wife quickly swiped it out of my hands and laid claim to it...figures. I was a little disappointed that my "membership number" was only 37. C'mon guys, it's $30 if you're a season ticket holder. Help these guys out...

That's why I ordered two of them. My wife did the same thing, she saw it and grabbed it, then I pulled out the other one. :D

BETTERHALF and I recorded the game and watched it yesterday. They had a shot of a group wearing the scarves and BETTERHALF shouted "that looks awesome." we may have to join to get the scarves for BB.
