Now we could get into Articles of Incorporation area. If Big 12 went big-would there be enough votes to withstand a move to dissolve the Big East so that no one pays an exit fee-in this one case there probably isn't enough votes to dissolve because I assume BB schools have equal votes-but I could see some situations where they don't want to play in a BB League with the backfill.

How do you know that? I've actually heard the opposite. That we are tied to Boise St.'s decision to join the Big East.

BTW you know I've strongly stated this is the proper course in my own thread and spelled out exactly what SMU had to expect might happen-just so you don't claim otherwise later.

Cox as usual doesn't understand what this deal is really about. The Big East is losing whatever schools the Big 12 (or ACC) want. SMU knew that when they got the tentative invitation. There is no decision to make as shown by the fact that everyone says you go to the Big East if they lose West Virginia. Duh. The real question is whether SMU goes to the Big East if:

The Big East loses West Virginia, Louisville AND Cincy (or at least 2)
Boise says No
Air Force says No
Navy says No

These scenarios and combinations thereof are the real prospects that should even remotely concern SMU and I even believe SMU would go to the Big East even if ALL (or most) those things happened.

We would not get left out of this. The MWC is throwing out merger ideas left and right to get AQ. Big East would squash this. Why give into the entire MWC to keep AQ, when all the BE would need to do is add Boise?

Yep. And Boise would be dumb to turn down a BE invite into an AQ conference just to hope that the merger gets AQ status. Then split the pie with a ton of bottom feeders with no desire to get better.

From what I hear, any Big East school would jump at a Big12 invite immediately. There is a split in Missouri's leadership as to whether they should stay or go to SEC and that is why this has been such a drawn out process. Also, I can confirm that the pecking order is WVU, Louisville and CIncy as previously reported. Apparently, WVU pulls better than I thought from a TV and market perspective.

Closest, Ames IA, 870 miles. 14.5 hour drive. Awesome, have fun ya hillbillies.

You know it fun and all to [deleted] and cry about UT going independent -ponyfans do that so well -but they have never ever played that card even though they could get an invite from every BCS Conference with a single phone call. Texas wants a Central BCS Football league centered in Texas and quite frankly they are the only reason that one might actually exist in the future. Now back to anti-UT nonsense...

I don't disagree. This is why I hope that the Big12 goes back to 12 schools. This would put the league in much better position when and if Texas decides to bolt. Of course this could really suck for SMU but it is what I would advocate for the Big12.

And as for geography...Boise or BYU in the Big East make as much sense as WVU in the Big12.
