I have seen the last 2 games, and SMU did lay an egg in both games. There are 4 games left in the regular season, and I am not gonna knee-jerk like a b#t#h.

My thought's on SMU before the season was an 8-4 record, and that's still a possibility. If you little knee jerk idiots want to go back to SMU football similar to Mike Cavan and Phil Bennett, be my guest.

You aren't being realistic, you are being foolish. When you looked at the schedule before the season, did you expect better than 8-4? If you did, you are foolish. You are not being realistic at all. No, I am not satisfied with the hawaii bowl or new orleans bowl...but I also understand where we came from. I am also not so dumb and un realistic that I think this is something that happens over night. This is a long proccess. You expect to go from a team who could barley win a couple of games to a BCS buster over night? Stupid. This is a process. Have patience and enjoy the ride. Remember where we came from, or have you just become an SMU fan within the last couple of years and have never endured the dreadful years. I have only been a fan since 2002, so I cant claim to endure 20 years of losing like some on this board can, but i went through 5 years of being embarassed and one respectable season....I am greatful for June Jones and what he has done for the program. It is the people like you who make me shake my head because your expectations are so ridiculous and think SMU should be in a BCS bowl or have a one loss season overnight.

You need to re-read my post. I said that SMU would be an 8-4 team, just from first glance of the schedule. "WHERE" in my post, does it say SMU should be in a BCS Bowl?

I didn't predict 8-4...I predicted 7-5 with this tough road schedule. It is no one's fault but your own that your expactations got inflated for no reason. UCF is an average team at best. We beat a pretty solid TCU team on the road which was a great win...so far, we lost the games we were supposed to lose and we won the games we were expected to, and even stole one at TCU.

Every coach looks bad if you throw four interceptions and cough up a punt return.
Funny, he looked like a pretty smart coach against TCU and UCF.

The people calling for a coaching change are insane. Remarkable that despite all the Jones-bashing on this board after a loss, every head coach I've ever heard talk about Jones has had NOTHING but good things to say about him. That includes Ron Meyer, who took SMU from the doldrums to the peak in circumstances that were frankly much more favorable than what Jones inherited.

Jones has done a terrific job and this program is getting better and better with every class he brings in. I am just grateful that Orsini decides who is our coach and not the armchair HCs on this board.

I'm concerned about:
*staff's ability to motivate
*JJ's resistance to change
*staff's ability to recruit (Klemm excluded)
*JJ's resistance to change
*Mouse Davis' age old offense
*Ability to attract higher level QB's (especially with QB coach who does not do anything but work with/recruit QB'S)
*JJ's resistance to change
*Not running or even practicing hurry up and/or no huddle offense
*Lack of physicality & agressiveness at times during season (wondering if Nick Saban and Les Miles have a lot of 'no full speed/contact' practices in August camp)
*JJ's resistance to change
*What was or wasn't said in locker room yesterday at half
*Willingness to settle for another Hawaii bowl trip
*JJ's resistance to change
*Coaches and players overly worried about attendance in light of past 20 years, especially last two games
*JJ's resistance to change

June will change when his personnel allows it.
If he'd had Shawnbrey McNeal or Zach Line in Hawaii, they would have played there, too.

June is gonna do the same things June has always done. Running is a necessary evil in Mouse Davis' book. And only when necessary. Would it have been a run first offense in Hawaii if you had both guys at the same time, not a chance.

I live in Texas but I don't wear cowboy boots.
Let's take a step back and take a deep breath. I have mentioned many times on ponyfans, this rebuilding process is a marathon not a sprint. I wish this was an overnight fix but it is not. Things are so much better than they were four years ago. SMU could not even get a good coach to come here until Steve O shows up and brings June in, now we have four star recruits committing to play football on the hilltop.
I was at SMU during the Pony Express days, so I have experienced the highs and lows of this program for a long time. I have waited 20+ years for this team to be competitive and win. I see the direction SMU is heading and it is the right course. Gonna be bumpy at times and I do not agree with everything June does but I like the big picture and the direction.

This is our problem, we don't have the QB to do anything that June wants to do but we're trying to do it anyway and getting exposed every time we play good teams.

I didn't realize that 1 winning season made it "the norm".

It's amazing three weeks ago there was very little if any of this kind of talk. Two bad weeks and we get to see who the true fans really are. They want to blame the lei, the uniforms, the coaches, etc., etc. Lets face it our young men didn't execute and played very flat. The coaches didn't throw int or miss wide open recievers, they didn't fumble the ball, miss tackles, miss blocks, get penalties, miss coverage assignments, etc. So at what point and time do we make our young men stand up and become accountable? I'm just as disappointed probably more disappointed in the showing the past two weeks as anyone on this board because my son is part of that showing. Lets suppport our coaches and players!!!!
