If everyone would just ignore this idiot, he might go away. Stop making his threads so relevant...

OK- If we lose then I will 'entertain' the thought of a new coach but only if you agree to not post any more comments about a new coach should SMU win. AGREED?

I won't entertain it. It's madness. It's the "I want it now or I'll throw a temper tantrum" act. If fans were like this 20+ years ago some of the greatest coaches would never have gotten to the point they are now. Say goodbye to Coach K. Besides, give me a name of an established head coach that we aren't giving a second chance to for some off the field issue or that failed at another program prior to, that we replace Jones with. Leach is not coming here, SMU will never allow it. So that's a dumb argument. Got another name? I don't want to be giving guys their first shot at coaching. We are moving forward going to the BE, no more Bennett type coaches please. The fact is you couldn't find a coach that carries the same credentials as Jones even sniffing at this job right now. Just drop the argument, it sir is a bad one. Go argue about why we don't have billboards or why students don't want to come to the game. Those are some hot topics people around here love to hash through repeatedly. Take your fire Jone BS and move to another board.

The only thing I'm going to say about this -- and this is something that I have said for two years -- is that this offense is not a BCS-type of offense. It isn't physical enough to grind through a 12-game season.
You can get away with it against the likes of Rice and Tulane but not against Rutgers and So. Florida. Since he's been here, whenever this approach has taken on BCS programs, most of the time it's been beaten pretty convincingly (2008 notwithstanding).
IMO, either Jones is going to have to make the change (which he probably won't) or the program is going to be flogged more often than not.
Jones is going to have to decide what it's in the best interest long term -- not his interest. And whether he's here or not is up to him.

It's in his interest to keep winning and he understands that. There is not $2M/yr to be made marketing the RnS.
He's going to be fine against Rutgers and USF (Besides, when did RU and USF become the standard for anything?). He did fine against TCU's vaunted D and they have better athletes. He's about to be set at QB for the next six years (how many schools can say THAT?) who should be excellent for running this system.
JJ is a winner.
The system works.
Let the man do his job.

I'll stand by remarks.

You didn't see "About Schmidt" did you? Nope, she was in a hot tub, that was after the full nude scene.

Whether or not one thinks that SMU needs a better coach in order to compete well in a BCS conference, consider this. Think how lucky SMU has been and how many games we would have lost had not these fortuitous events taken place.'
Shawnbrey McNeal transferred to SMU.
Margus Hunt enrolls at SMU.
Zach Line appears out of nowhere.
I submit that w/o McNeal and Line in the running game and Hunt blocking kicks we would have lost at least six or eight more games in 09 and 10.
I do think it is ridiculous to suggest that we need a new coach right now. I do believe that a better head coach will need to be hired if we are to get to the level where SMU can compete with almost any other college program.
