Bill Self dirty??? Shhhhhhhhit. Put down what you're smoking and/or drinking. He may recruit players that can't/won't qualify (which is actually only recent), but there's nothing dirty about the gamble. He runs one of the cleanest programs around.
you don't pull kids out of Chicago consistently like he has without playing the game. I'm an Illinois fan and I miss Self but I'm not naive nor am i giving back the champ game appearance that Weber made with Self's players.
I'm tired and I may be missing someone, but Self has pulled one Chicago kid while he's been at Kansas (Collins). KU also has one of the highest GPA's among basketball teams...(the good ones anyways).

Not a dream at all, they just have to prove they won't lose AAU like Nebraska and Syracuse.
It was votes from Big 10 schools that went against Nebraska's AAU status, so I don't think they care that much about it. If they did, they would have just had Nebraska change the law so the med school could be attached to the undergrad.
They care and they're embarrassed. That's why some of the schools are trying to get Nebraska back to at least Texas Tech's level (ok, so maybe they aren't that bad). The "legacy" AAU schools are under attack by new AAU management.
I don't really want to turn this into a KU/Nebraska "rankings" thread (on a SMU board), but there are many more that show KU > Nebraska. However, here's the main point as it relates to Big 10:
KU = AAU Nebraska = Not AAU, shamed and embarrassed
AAU is a bulsh measurement of status. It's like putting on your college application that you are 'who's who of high school students'. It's a paid membership deal.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

You're high. AAU is a big deal and it is very hard to get. It just means you're a big time research school, which doesn't matter at schools like SMU. It matters to the Big 10.

It USED to matter. As NU has proven. What matters now is football and the associated money. That's all. Anything else is lip service.

None. I'm a Pony fan too, but I really don't think SMU can be throwing stones with its bought "co-titles" and the one voted title from the 30's.
I wouldnt call it bought titles, when everyone else (that was a decent or great program) was doing it. I call them legitimate title because we were better at recruiting than UT ATM cause they have bums for alumni
