In AA where it belongs. It's Fielding Yost's Jug... brought to Minnesotta over fear the locals would poison UM's water... Not a real and true rivalry but an awesome trophy.

How long would it take SMU to ACCEPT an invitation to the BigTen??????? .03 seconds. That's what I like about you guys. edit, expanded that YOU WANT to be among the best and that you WANT to play UT, A+M and OU and for that matter, Michigan. Despite D2 level enrollment SMU soldiers on. At a level they have no business playing at because of pride, the past and tradition.

Yep. Very familiar with the history of the Jug. Still can't believe we pissed away that game in 2004 at the Dome...arrrggghhh...but we'll always have Ricky Foggie in 1986 and Gary Russell's big run in (2006 or 2007) and then the 17-0 shutout in 1977. What's weird is that Minnesota's last three wins in the series are in AA.

You're right, it's really not a rivalry but the trophy is really cool.

But I think we can agree that Wisconsin sucks!

Wisconsin..... Well they are big , tough and very mean. Great Stadium and fans.... Sparty owns them so Yep Wisconsin sucks. The Alvarez and post Wisconsin is IMO one of the nations best. I don't hate them like you do, you gotta understand that.. Honestly I pull for all the B1G teams that are playing OOC even Sparty and Brutus. IMO What's good for Michigan is also good for Minnesota. IMO WIsconsin has been the class of the Big Ten for the last few years, ever since Lloyd lost interest and AA fell into what we call shambles (Most people call a bowl game a good year). We don't. Either way a strong Wisconsin helps the fact that there hasn't been a Michigan for about 4 years.

Sure. I think that's what make the Big 10 the best conference in America is because there is such unity among the schools and everybody is pulling for everybody to do well in the non-conference and the postseason in football and basketball.

You don't really find that in other parts of the country. Honestly, I pull for Iowa and Wisconsin in their bowl games but want to beat them bad in the rivalry games.

When I went up to Minneapolis to watch the Gophers play Iowa, it was really a nice experience meeting the Iowa fans and talking with them. I go up once a year because my late father went to Minnesota.

Already have plans for 2012 and if the schedule sticks, I'm probably going up for the first weekend in November when the Gophers play the Wolverines. Gotta see them in person.

May want to see them twice since Michigan and Alabama are expected to play in that Labor Day game at Cowboys Stadium.

I told a kid that works for me and is from Nebraska before the season started that he was really gonna like the Big Ten.... He didn't believe me. He had angst for Michigan from 1997 pent up, why? I don't know, they got a National championship out of the deal. Another kid from a few miles from him in Nebraska has come to me on many occaisions throughout the season and said man why are you guys all so nice? in the Big 12 everybody hates everybody, I love the Big Ten! Ol' Jesse may not have learned to cheer for his rivals yet, but he will. BIGTEN excuse me TWELVE together, stronger than all.

BTW the 2012 Cowbows Classic at Jerry World IS the Michigan Wolverines vs the Alabama Crimson Tide... Sounds epic and historically it would be but Hoke needs to bring an A plus game plan and Alabama needs to think they have the game won when they get there, Saban is not going to let that happen. I k now Michigan has 2 wins vs Alabama but don't know where the overall series stands.... Michigan is 20-5-1 vs the SEC But that the OLD Michigan.....

Honestly, it's been great. I was against the move initially, but until the Husker implosion the last few weeks its been the most fun season I can remember. Just been fun to get to play new teams and travel to new places.

Only thing I miss at all about the Big 12 is the Oklahoma game. Texas game was always fun too, even though they had our number for some reason, but we only got to play one of Oklahoma or Texas every year after the Big 12 formed. The rest of it was getting your tires slashed in Columbia and getting urine bombs and batteries thrown at you from the Buffs fans.

Shockingly, this Friday is the first game I have ever been shut out of. There aren't tickets available anywhere. Only a few singles. Osborne's PR guy actually called my dad to see if my dad had any extra tickets for him. (There are a total of 15 tickets left on Stub Hub right now--cheapest pair is $275 per ticket.) Crazy for a game between teams just battling to stay out of the Meineke Car Care Bowl.
