"I heard if Houston wins, then we're going to Hawaii, that's what I heard," Jones said. "I don't root for Houston very often, but I'm rooting for them this week."

Sounds like even Purdue may be lacking some confidence that their drum is the biggest...

http://www.purdue.edu/uns/html3month/020702.Matter.BBDhistory.html

"Arriving at the convention, they found the Texas students failed to bring their drum. So, with the default, Purdue students declared their drum as the "World's Largest Drum." Since that time, the exact measurements of the Purdue Big Bass Drum have been kept secret to preserve the mystique surrounding it."

Besides, SMU has the distinction of having BIG NAOMI, the world's longest sousaphone!

Although fan attendance will be poor, I think that Hawaii is the best bowl for us. The players will be excited, June will be happy, I can go to the bar and ignore my in-laws on Christmas Eve without catching hell, and hopefully we can put on another stellar performance on national TV. :D

Seems like it would be the opposite - if Houston loses, then they would get pushed down to the TicketCity Bowl and we would go to Hawaii.
While anything can happen, especially since we have a staff hellbent on getting to the islands, seems likelier CUSA would vacate the most expensive bowl to send people to.

You know, to get to hawaii, we needed to lose to Tulsa, So Miss, and houston. Funny, we looked strangely bad in those games

So really I hope it actually ends up SMU vs Purdue, especially if we luck out and end in the Sugar vs Houston. It would be good for your program because I mean you get to play Purdue who IMO historically is no joke, you all F it to take from Lee Corso, ya'll I say it in every day speech so why not here, have heard of Drew Brees for sure and probably Bob Griese too and I bet you guys loved Mike Alstott at Tampa, we all did. But not only that, with the time I spent watching SMU especially vs Houston, I'd like to evaluate based on that for my own selfish purposes what we need to do vs Cougar High. Personally whether Rice beat Purdue or not and whether we beat Purdue's [deleted] or not (which we did) Purdue beat Ohio and Rice played SMU real tough. Texas has pretty good f'in football in case you didn't already know and I know you do. So I want to see SMU vs a common opponent, for me. Purdue would be better than ohio. but I'd love for you guys to jack up ohio.

I'm ok with the Hawaii Bowl, but it better be against any team besides Nevada. I have no interest in seeing the same matchup in the same bowl. You know our players will be overconfident and Nevada will be out for revenge.

Nevada and SMU in the Hawaii Bowl would be a financial disaster. There is no way we sell anywhere close to our ticket requirement. On the other hand we wouldn't have to worry if it was Hawaii as it would be a sellout for the June Jones Revenge Bowl.

Going to Hawaii means most likely ESPN highlights and DVR!!, Ill be out of town. Any other bowl count my a in s. Nevertheless hopefully a win, but cant say that Im not a little bit annoyed with Jones dying for Hawaii bowl. Should just focus on the W rather than location of where the W will be obtained.

good lord man, how many times to we have to go over this? the conference pays for the unused ticket allotment. WE, SMU, DOES NOT.

only expensive thing is sending the band.
