My guess is there was no "secret reason" but he was just putting out a card he could play later to say he had done all he wanted to. Or maybe the FG Trophy was the goal? Winning the Iron Skillet (which SO better have brought To NYC)? He was wise to the Big D/ George W/ spiritual calling voodoo.
