This is really funny. I can only take a few minutes out of my day to read through all the hurt feelings around here. Time to get over it folks. Time to move forward and stop acting like a scorned lover. This is a business relationship, not a personal relationship.
From those friends of mine outside of the SMU circle that have called me this week asking me what's going on, most thought this was all on ASU. Not June or SMU. They see the awkward position this puts JJ and SMU but all the negativity is squarely on ASU and their handling of the situation. I don't fault JJ for looking or wanting to go. June owes us absolutely nothing but to coach this team. And for all you that think he just rolls the ball on the field and doesn't care, you lose all credibility.
Time for everyone to kiss and make up. Gasol, Odom and the Lakers are going to have to do the same thing this morning as well. It's not personally people, it's business.

People get screwed in business everyday, so did SMU.

SMU didn't get screwed. they GAVE HIM PERMISSION to talk to ASU. they were fully aware of the situation. if anyone got screwed, it's june.

I prefer to call them the "Kill June Drama Squad" .. they need to have t-shirts made.

Not witch hunting, and I agree with Dutch, it is JJ that got screwed, not SMU. If anything SMU got screwed more by him not getting the ASU job than if he had gotten it.
Now the question is what is best going forward...if June isn't committed to SMU for more than a season, I think that is a big problem, and he should be let go so SMU can move on. It is a business decision that needs to be made. We do not owe him anything either--outside of what is stipulated in his contract.

nobody is on a witch hunt but if you are thinking that june didn't do damage to SMU or its recruiting cycle, you are nuts

Might want to check Rivals for info regarding the size of the group of recruits making visits to campus this week

Isn't that why we have him under contract for 4 years so he can recruit under that impression.
I get it you love him others do as well, but he doesn't love you, in fact he wants to deficate on your home.

At SMU:
Cavan had a 39% winning record.
Bennett had a 26% winning record.
Jones has a 45% winning record...after removing academic restrictions.
So we put up with his dis-respect for some 3rd tier bowls and a 45% winning record?
The ASU fiasco is not a big deal by itself....but added to the list? Yeah, a big deal.

you just don't do it on a major recruiting weekend, and have the deal to-be-announced on a big day for your previous employer...sorry...permission or not. d!ck move.

did HE pick that time? ASU is in a position that they have to get something done FAST b/c they're trying to salvage a recruiting class.
if some hack a.m. radio jockey hadn't tweeted on sunday afternoon that ASU officials met with jones, NONE OF US would know about this. players would have never heard a word. if this was 4 years ago, pre-twitter - the deal probably would have gotten signed b/c there wouldn't have been the backlash from SunDevil fans b/c they wouldn't have even known about it. the press conference would have happened today, and we'd all be saying darn, our coach was so good that he got picked off by a Pac12 school.
