If i was a stud receiver i would want to have Gilbert throwing to me - you think he will be scared of Baylor when he has seen Alabama as a freshman? You think CUSA is going to freak him out? Junes offense was made for this guy - all he want to do is throw long deep balls. This will be fun. It changes everything.
June's offense is fairly complicated. You don't just walk in and start.
My money is on Kyle, who I saw at Cowboys Stadium a few hours ago, btw.
BS. june's first year in Hawaii had tons of offense. They had a senior QB. Gilbert brings plenty if experience.

I am leaning towards preston conner as for Gilbert I only got to see him in that championship game VS bama and I remember thinking he was a great frosh QB i still dont get how it all fell apart for him after that

However, *if* he's eligible... my money's on Gilbert winning the job.
If he's not, I have no idea between the other two.
Burcham is not in play for 2012, I feel pretty certain he's a red-shirt.
On the other topic I saw mentioned above... maybe it's just me, but I see no reason for Padron to transfer. He's not an NFL prospect, and the SMU diploma will serve him better than just about any FCS school he could transfer to.
There's my two cents on all sorts of crap.
Padron could become a NFL prospect after a season at the FCS level, worked for Josh McCown.

It fell apart for gilbert the same way that Ash had 1 TD and 8 picks for UT this year. They have an awful offensive line that gets young players killed.
if he transferred in for the grad school exemption, would he have 1 year or 2?
No redshirt at UT, so theoretically if he didn't beat Kyle out for the job, we could redshirt him, correct?

Any chance Garrett gets the call from Mack to stay next year?

A couple of my Longhorn friends were talking about this the other night. Hopefully not, but given the way their other QBs looked it seems plausible.

I think Garrett might be done with Texas after his treatment by the coaches and fans. He needs a fresh start.

considering Gilbert has to sit out, that would be a bad assumption.
He means Padron or Preston.
Unless gg graduates from ut and comes to SMU as a grad student
