Jones has produced better results with less on the field than most coaches. However, those who say that talent doesn't matter are wrong. Remember those 0-12 and 1-11 seasons? Why did we have those? Because we had no talent. When your highest rated recruit is your punter, that's not good. I see this class as kind of a step back in talent so far. And with a lot of signings of big uglies in those numbers, talent has a bit less to do with things. Size and build matter there. I hope they sign a few game breakers. I figured BE membership would upgrade the talent. It hasn't. I think that JJ and LB will actually make a pretty good team of trading prospects to a degree and tag teaming to a degree down the road. Brown has a pretty good rep on the east coast and midwest. JJ through the south and far west. Let's hope that things pick up over the next 10 picks.

From someone with your history of SMU football, that is a pretty timid response ES.

TCU - 54 BCS offers to date

While it pains me to admit this, at this point, comparing ourselves to TCU is not really a fair comparison. TCU went to two BCS games, finished number two in the nation, is in the Big 12, and over the past decade has been a top 10 to top 15 program. While the sunshiners will say we beat them last year, our program is where they were 10 years ago. While we can look to what they have built as a model for what SMU can accomplish, at this point we are apples and oranges with regards to our 2013 class. That is not to say that our class does not leave a lot to be desired at this point, but enough with saying we should be in the same ballpark as their class. Don't shoot the messenger, this is a sad fact

We have absolutely the worst staff to go up against TCU on the recruiting trail. We fix that and we can actually start winning recruiting battles against them and other programs people have actually heard of.

SMU's motto with everything: cautiously, not too quickly, carefully research it and spend 3-5 years worrying about it. Screw that, let's get a staff that can pluck a few from TCU, Houston and Baylor!

I used to dismiss the few on here who suggested that JJ wil be gone at the end of this upcoming season but now I'm starting to believe it. He makes no effort to keep our best recruiter, Klemm. He seems to be making no effort to recruit for this class, a class that is shaping up to easily be the lowest rated class under JJ....and this is coming off three straight bowl games and an invite to a BCS conference. And of course, he was as good as gone until ASU pulled the rug out from under him at the last second. I'm starting to believe the conspiracy.
