Best QB? Answer is Gilbert, hands down. After watching Gilbert in practice, we have the better quarterback.

Best WR: I think DJ. He will be a third round draft pick in the draft. Baylor has good speed at WR, but nobody at that level, I don't think.

Best: RB: Line. Number FB in the next draft. Done.

Best Defense: SMU in a landslide. We have 4 players getting looked at for the draft next year, including the #13 pick in Kiper's latest list.

Turnovers and penalties will be a big deal on the road, but i think SMU is the better team and overcomes the road worries. 42-24 SMU

Baylor's #1 WR Terrance Williams (6'3" 4.45) will be a 1st rounder in the draft

johnbayBear wrote:I can't see SMU winning on the road with a new QB. Baylor returns 16 starters. Although Baylor lost their best WR (they have one of the top projected WRs for next years draft back) and RB (don't think there will be a drop off here), Baylor did lose RGIII which will really hurt. However Briles, like Jones, has proven he can win behind any QB. Baylor's offense won't be as dynamic but they will be good.

SMU plays better defense but you are underselling Bennett. Our secondary was terrible because of injuries. Not so this year with a ton of speed. We also have a new set of LBs, no where as good as SMU, but it will be a step up for Baylor over last year. Our DL against SMU OL will be the key to the game in my opinion.

Baylor should win but SMU can win this game.

Baylor 41- SMU 38

LOL at us underselling Bennett. He was here for a much longer time than he has been at Baylor, and it doesn't matter what kind of athletes he has, his defenses all have the same characteristics;

1) When in Man coverage, the DBs play 5-10 yards off the line of scrimmage/men in order to keep from getting beaten deep. Teams are able to complete 5 yard passes down the field at will.

2) When blitzing, his teams announce themselves by yelling "ALL OUT" before the play.

3) His teams traditionally blitz 70% of the time, leaving them vulnerable to draws and screens.

OK I believe SMU has the talent to win this game. Position by position by position I think we match up well against Baylor Unfortunately I have yet to see a June Jones SMU team go on the road and beat a team above our station. The more common occurance is we are nervous and scared and spot the other side 14+ poiints. I can't believe this team is mentaly tough enough to win a game like this until they show me they are.

34-21 Baylor. (hope I'm wrong)

Well said, I am afraid you are right. Score seems about right too. Road games: A&M last year (got worked but didn't even show up), Tech the year before, @UCF, So Miss, and Tulsa. TCU is the only game we showed resilience and @ECU w/ Padron. Sure hope we are wrong. Different year, we'll see. I hope to see some takeaways by our D and a lot more than last year.

I think the difference is going to be GG. He has to be ready to do this against probably the most beatable team of the Big 3 OOC. Patience will be the by word. March down the field and wear them out.

The difference is that we have a QB now.

And most of the team has experienced what we witnessed

I'm glad someone mentioned PB. I had forgotten to make an ALL OUT sign, not anymore.

SMU and Gilbert are going to bedazzle Baylor with an aerial display that will make the Bears think it must be the fourth of July... 49-21 SMU

I'm afraid your on the right side of this prediction, but I hope I'm pleasantly surprised. However, SMU has typically not looked that good in first games of the season - even during JJ's tenure, and our road record against BCS teams is atrocious. This game is a must win if we are trying to show that we "belong" and are starting to take the steps to becoming a top 25 program.

agree this is really a big game because its very winnable. Hope we have a good invasion of mustang fans because that could pull us through. Hoping GG looks around, feels some love, and says 'I got this'. And JaGared and the Wolf ring a few bells.

Very winnable and really puts us on the map early in the season. WE have kids use to winning, use to playing in bowls and use to beating good teams. We are not consistent against good teams and this is a game were we start to change that as well.

And please, defense, go All OUT and create some turnovers!
