Our deficiencies during this game were at WR and Defense. The Defense will fix itself before conference play and be fine.

WR is a disappointment. JJ and DJ are really nice receivers (although DJ obviously had a bad play tonight). Thompson and Holman don't have the consistancy you would like to see, or complete athleticism. Ace has the athleticism, but doesn't perform. Dieter has some potential, and Stewart has a ton of potential, but it is kind of disappointment to see a lack of ability at that position right now.

GG had a sloppy game but I still think he is going to put up huge numbers before the end of the season. He is not the problem.

And neither is June. People are making comments about how he isn't yelling at the officials or whatever. If you were actually at the game, you would have seen him talk to the officials during every timeout, asking why the facemask and push of GG out of bounds weren't called. Talking about holding on the WR screens and sweeps early in the game that weren't called. And the block in the back. You would have also seen him walk out to the middle of the field to tell the ref to review the play after Dj's "fumble".

The defense looking bad wasn't about talent or bad recruiting. We all know there are a lot of players who didn't seem to show up for whatever reason on the defensive side of the ball. The only area of bad recruiting I saw during the game was WR.

We were the laughingstock of college football because we weren't trying to win. June hasn't done anything special but work with a model that wasn't available to previous coaches. June's not at Hawaii anymore so he can't blame his problems on crappy facilities and being out in the middle of an ocean.

Silly us, I guess JJ gets a pass for life.

Of course he doesn't get a pass for life, but he also shouldn't get carved up after one game. If we had won by 70, he didn't deserve to get knighted, and if we got beat like we did, it's not all on him, either. Some is, some isn't. We got beat tonight, and that sucks. We also got beat by a Baylor team that was a heck of a lot better than I thought. I admit I was one of those who thought they'd be nothing without RG3 and Ganaway and Wright, but they have some outrageous athletes over there, many who have been in the system for years. Our new quarterback has been in our offense for a month. Theirs is a fifth-year senior who has years of throwing to his receivers. That's an enormous difference. I figured we'd lose tonight, although not as lopsidedly as we did. I also think SFA will make it a game and I think we lose to A&M and TCU, and I think I'm coming up for all three games to support my team and hoping they prove me wrong.

I still support this coaching staff and appreciate the fact this head coach finally brought us out of the 1-11, 3-9 seasons we had grown accustomed to. I still melt down every time we get blown out by a former SWC rival on national TV to open the season, but as I told Mrs CP last night at game's end, it is what it is.

I think what frustrates me the most is JJ's refusal to line up and play big boy football. When we have 1st and goal inside the 5 yard line (at least twice that I can recall), why not line up Wimbley and Zach and let our OL put a hand on the gound and get physical. We should be practicing against these stronger teams and should have that part of our game ready to go against CUSA opponents.

We were picked to lose......that doesn't mean be totally non-competitive.

I am waiting on JonesDoe to comment. Also if SFA makes it a game to a coach in his 5th year at a FBS school that would be sad.

June is our Moses. He led the Exodus from the Land of 1-10, but he can't get us to the Promised Land of BCS relevance.

Lots of annoyances -- geldings, quarterback trot every play, black to honor Army. Apathy towards recruiting is more than an annoyance. But his heading to AZ for a new job during the most important recruiting weekend of the year signaled it's time to move in a new direction.

Let appreciate him for what he has done, support him this season, and bring in a coach who can recruit and take us to the next level.

Maybe SMU needs a Joshua to lead them to BCS relevance? :?:

If SFA makes it a game we are going to be in trouble for the rest of the year IMO. If we beat them handily we are back on track even if we lose to aTm and TCU.

Give us 2 plays back and the game is much closer...

1) The tipped pass at the goal line that was intercepted
2) The DJ fumble run back for a TD

Neither of those is on Jones. Yeah, there are other things that he & the coaching staff share the blame for (like the lack of pressure on their QB, and no depth at DB), but I don't think we were as uncompetitive as you think we were.

Talent yet? You think we are really going to recruit better? He has had plenty of time.

I think our biggest gap is at DB, and the sad thing is that it's not a recent happening. We've been thin at DB ever since he got here. We've had a few stand-out guys like Sterling Moore and Chris Banjo that shored up our secondary to some extent, but the coaching staff has got to beat the bushes to get some depth back there, and as everyone has already pointed out, not sure that's in their MO.

I still don't think we are completely out of it this season, but we've got to step it up if we expect to do anything in the Big East come next year.
