Nice try, but that's not true. You did talk about last year when you discounted the Pitt win above.

Fact is we are not a cupcake by anyone's standards, even with the disastrous Baylor loss under our belts.

Regardless I am now talking about this year and I said weak team. We won't know really until after the UTEP game IMO. I will all unfold over time this year one way or the other. I hope they play better because blowout losses don't help the recruiting or perception.

That's a sign that NFL coaches know that if a player has the basic tools in speed, etc., he is smart enough and polished enough to be worthy of a roster slot. I like the schedule for 2013. Whether we win or lose, we need to play a tough OOC to make writers take notice if we happen to run the BE someday.
BE is an Automatic Qualifier no need for a bunch of bodybag money games where players get overly banged up. I think we had a good amount of dings (DJ3 possible concussion, Hunt dinged, Gottschalk hurt etc.) in the Baylor game. First game should have been against SFA IMO. As far as taking notice, for what? Again, remember BE is an Automatic Qualifier and all SMU has to do is win the conference to get to a BCS Bowl. Wrong mentality now that SMU is in a BCS conference. But I guess they will take notice if SMU goes 0-4 or 1-3 in OOC. Be careful what you wish for because you are getting it some this year and a lot next year.
Bingo! Keno!

Not rocket science.
No AQ after 2013. Hope you're not thinking we are going to walk into the nBE and win conference our first year.

Everyone around here has been saying we belong in the big 12. Really? I would like to think so, but based upon what I saw Sunday we still have a ways to go. I'm hoping we just weren't prepared...not that that is good, but hopefully we are really better than we looked. I still have hope to come out of OOC no worse than 2 & 2. I am tired of my friends feeling sorry for me and SMU. We need to be respected and you don't get that respect by beating up on the Savanah States of the world...at least not IMHO.

And we lose more respect by getting blasted by Baylor. Look we will get plenty chances in the BE. But I guess as the old saying goes, "it is easy to play with other peoples money." I am willing to say that June tries to get that brutal 2013 OOC schedule changed but it probably won't happen.

First of all, if you play nine conference games you can't play 4 OOC games (unless one is at Hawaii). So automatically you eliminate any school in the ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12. In '06, '08 and '11, all three of USC's OOC opponents were from BCS conferences.

If you count schools from conferences that play less than eight conference games, Syracuse plays Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern and USC. For their fifth OOC, they host Stony Brook.

We'll see how that works out for Syracuse since they are in the BE for this last year. Minnesota is weak IMO but still a lower tier BCS team.

Dude, no BCS teams play an easy conference schedule like we do. They are allowed to schedule low tiered teams for OOC cause they have their hands full in conference play, we dont.

I am talking about in 2013 when we are in a BCS conference and play 4 BCS teams in OOC.
