Remind me - December 13, 2006?
That's when Lamar Hunt died.

Does swimming for SMU count? I want SMU to win out this year and we should not be in the business of trashing our student athletes. Coaches and administration are fair game, but I believe Turner and Hart are committed to growing and winning in FB and BB (but, don't get me started on non-revenue sports - hint new Natatorium). The Big East remains a solid move than Turner enabled. That gives us a platform to grow on against quality competition nationally with more media exposure and revenue.

As for JJ, I have never said a word against him and credit him for leading us to greater respectability, which greatly aided us in our invitation to the BE. However, I share the view that he is uninspiring for the fans (can't speak for the players) and by extension the student body, which remains supporitve, but hardly a major asset on the build up to games, bringing energy into the stadium early, while staying late. My point is that a high energy coach fires up everyone, not just the team. JJ's interviews are bland. The coach needs to promote SMU, our traditions and an exciting future for SMU football.

Go Mustangs.

Yes, and I agree with everything you said.

Unfortunately the mustang nation is upset and even more upsetting is the size of the mustang that actually cares.

Interesting interview with R. Hart on scout.com (free info).
Couple of disturbing things. Was asked about IPF and stated that possibility would have to be investigated.. there are many other priorities such as tennis courts, moody renov. , natatorium etc. and then we will have to see about finances to build such a facility. Hmmm- thought the IPF was a firm commitment and construction was to start in the near future.

He also was asked about OOC schedule. Said that he thought we needed the patsies to get ready for 'real' conf. play?? IIRC an old saying; if you can't hunt with the big dogs don't get off the effing porch.
Guess he and jj are in agreement that we need to stay in the puppy pen- big dogs play too rough.

I turned the interview off after about 11 min. (20 min intv.) as I just didn't feel he was going to be much more than a mouthpiece for RGT. No fire and too laid back- sort of jj like.

Sounds very much like a Turner "yes" man in the interview................and no mention of "Top 25"............

Very PC in his answers.

As to the IPF, weve gone from
Have the $, need a spot
Have the $, have the spot, need to finish some other stuff

To

Well..we got moody, golf, pool, then let's recircle and see.

Could he be distancing himself from the demands of the current regime ? Or did a major benefactor pull out ?

Ah yes, I remember now. FYI, I played with Clark. Whether your theory is right or not, Lamar was very generous and super nice to all of us when he could have been aloof. I am honored to have personally known (in a very minor way) an SMU legend.

That was a huge fear for me the minute I heard Turner ran the Mob Boss off.
Dang I hope it's not true.....
My gut tells me Turner would be quite content winning 5-6 games a year.

IPP- I thought the same thing. The only thing that interests RGT is his 'second century' funding and his legacy here.

The judging tendency of certain personality types gets annoying sometimes. Fact is you don't know what motivates either man. Don't act like you do.

Why doesn't RGT pull a Jerry jones and just make himself the AD, at least we would save some money...
