As always, GO USofA!!! Vote for whoever you want, that is our right... but remember we are all Americans, we all want what's best for the country. We get too blinded by "villainizing" the the other party.

That being said, GO MUSTANGS! ... and PAC-12?

;)

Common sense is overrated, I want my free phone!

Oh and I want us in a southern conference so go sec or big 12 minus UT

SEC

Surely Everyone Cheats ... too bad we got the DP, back in the '80s we could have fit right in!!

You guys know that I kid. SEC and certain other schools were far worse than us... working on a new project to expose that kind of stuff, but not in a crybaby way, because it won't be about SMU.

Hey I'll watch anything that justifies smu. Sucks they go after the small school rather than all the big schools look at USC, penn state etc they are still winning and making money such harsh penalties. I will say we have better shot at PAC than we would at sec team in football but it sure would be nice f u to tcu and ut if we went sec

I think realignment is going to enter some kind of lull. PAC12, SEC, and BIG10 all seem content with their current configurations. The ACC and Big East have bulked up in preparation for future raids. The Big XII is a wild card that can expand or get poached depending on which commissioner develops a drinking problem. In the big picture SMU's future prospects benefit more from moving to the Big East and lying in the weeds for a little while.

What we have to do, that we haven't done in 20-plus years, is market our sports with discount prices - much like the MustangMania era. Otherwise, it ain't happening! Don't really understand the arrogance of our administration???

Forgot that when Russ Potts left the Hilltop, all marketing literally ceased. So you could probably say 30 years!

I agree. We need to embrace the (Big) East and perform at the highest levels within our new conference. We benefit in BB and, conversely, our academics reflect well on any conference. We need to beef up non-revenue sports (shameless plug) and add a new sport for Men and Women, Varisty Lacrosse, which is played by the BE/academic peers while being will be a unique brand in Texas, i.e. only Division 1 LAX program.

With a renovated Moody, continued progress in FB and, most importantly, more butts in the seats, we will be attractive to our BE mates, media corporations and, if in 3-5 years were deliver on these points, there will be greater opportunities for SMU. Today, it is not only premature, but delusional.

They also play baseball... Maybe if we had one we can go beat the ACC in that since it seems like its them and big 12 and sometimes sec in that sport

Big 12 can't get poached either. Each team has signed away their rights for what 11 years.

I'm trying to do my part! Russ Potts lived in my neighborhood and because his daughter and my sis were friends in that era, we got to hear some very cool stories!

Plus, one summer -- one of the last few that my older bro and sis made the trek -- Russ's daughter came with us to Europe (my dad does speaking engagements and works with colleagues across the pond every summer). Funny stories from that adventure, nothing too cool on my end as I was ten years younger... but my sis and Russ's daughter (Christy, was that her name?) got on a train to adventure by themselves. They went the wrong way. Seriously. Also, I think that was the summer that Walk Like an Egyptian came out by Bananarama... so just as a few years before with Michael Jackson's Moonwalk I humbly obliged to make the teenager's laugh by doing my "Egyptian-walk" while the song played anywhere and everywhere. (Yes, I was always the entertainer... maybe they were laughing at me, but I still chose to believe they were laughing with me, because I was having fun.)

Anyway, that was one of my justly famous tangents.

Back to PAC-whatever#, I've only got this information from West Coast buddies who think I am in the know and are asking me about it. Personally, I have no clue... other than a few years back, Cali was one of the many and often stops of our football program's Patron Saint Paul B. Loyd, Jr. as we were were trying to find a conference that would at least someday allow us to compete for a Natl. Championship again. With the scant information I had, I figured... what the hell? I'll throw it on PonyFans.

So for all of you hitting me up on FB for more info., I have none.... and I honestly don't care to look into it further until we really start winning. This past Saturday was a good step.

Re: SEC "Surely Everyone Cheats ... too bad we got the DP, back in the '80s we could have fit right in!!"

We were in the right conference at the time, and we did fit right in with all the other cheaters.

The worst example was when TCU went on probation and fired their football coach. Baylor steps right up and hires him as an assistant and put him on the recruiting trail. It wasn't just A&M and UT.
