Sounds like you are pretty buddy buddy with the coaches. Looks like we have another JasonB here.

Because the last thing we need is another of those.....

I mean seriously, why doesn't everyone just come on here and bash JJ? Difference of opinion? What's that?

That was an expected response from a JJ to the death supporter. Which they and you seem to be.

Not a June Jones supporter, and I was doubtful about Gilbert's abilities after his first few games, but he's improved significantly. I think we have to evaluate his play realistically in the context of our offense. He's steadily made fewer bad decisions and become more comfortable in the pocket/scrambling. Unfortunately against UCF it didn't matter because our WRs couldn't get open down the field and our OL couldn't handle pressure from the front four.

Fair enough.

EastStang wrote:With UCF blitzing all night, why did it take us like 3 quarters to figure out that the screen might be effective. We ran it twice in the fourth quarter both times with great yardage. I also noticed that receivers weren't making good reads. On one pass Gilbert threw outside and the receiver turned inside to double coverage. By this point in the season, receivers ought to be making good reads. So, who's starting at QB next year? I say, let's let him play a half against USM, just to give him some experience.

Your remarks boil down to:

Issue 1: Coaches didn't make correct calls to defend the blitz.
Result: Bad play calling by coach

Issue 2: Receivers made bad reads, the QB made the better read.
Result: Receives mistakes.

Issue 3: Receivers should be making better reads during this part of the season.
Result: Bad coaching, players? I don't know.

Issue 4: We need another QB next year.
How does Issue 4 resolve or even have anything to do with the other 3 issues?

not only did our WRs not get open very often; with few exceptions those guys don't react to broken plays and they don't seem to come back to the ball to help their QB...either by creating an outlet or blocking downfield

Agree.

Why use him at the beginning of the season and not in the middle of the season. Especially when only DJ and Jeremy Johnson are really producing. You would think it would be the reverse, since he has to learn the offense. Same goes for Joseph. CONFOUNDING.

Only GOD knows what goes on in JJ's mind.

The only reason Dieter and Stewart aren't playing is that they essentially ran one route in high school. Once they learn how to play the position, they will be our starters on the outside.

At practice, you can tell the potential, but Dieter doesn't separate himself from either of the other receivers on his side. It isn't like he is making plays all over the place and the coaching staff is just blind about it.

I met June at one of his lunches last year, and I met Coach Odum at the 2009 Kickoff Lunch. So I guess we're lifelong friends now.

The problem, I believe, is that folks like to form a conclusion, then if they're really feeling scientific, to find some apparently self evident data to support it. So they get really upset when someone provides any discussion point that might threaten that. In other words, this is not a place for conversation. It's a place to elephant walk with those who agree with you.
