Four bowls in a row sounds better than "well, 1-11, 3 bowls, then no bowl, then retirement."

Take the extra practice.

Those saying "take the extra practice" are answering the question "Should we go to a bowl," not the question that the thread title asks.

The question is whether or not the team deserves to go to a bowl.

If they become bowl-eligible, then they deserve to go to a bowl. If they do not, then they don't deserve it. That's the way it is.

Your personal beliefs on whether or not a 6-6 team should go to a bowl don't matter because the rules say they can. This team isn't less deserving of a bowl simply because they play in 2012 and not 1982.

Based on the last 3 seasons, I would say that the extra practice doesn't help any. We've lost our season opener following each bowl game by an average of 25 points.

How do you know we wouldn't have lost by 50 without the practice?

I think must ppl our age think there are way to many bowls and about half the teams that go shouldnt even be sniffing a bowl.Now having said that would I tell our players no dont go or skip the extra practice that would help build next years team NO I WOULD NOT take it have fun see you next year.Its not the 50s any more take what you can get.

If we are invited, then yes, apparently we do deserve to go based upon at least one person's criteria.

Whether you like the results of the season thus far or not, who are we to say they don’t deserve to go bowling … I know it was just a question. These guys bust there [deleted] all year long. They play through and with pain/injury, and during the season probably work the equivalent of an 80hr work week with school, travel pract. Etc. If they become eligible and get invited, they deserve it. We should be proud of them for that accomplishment, and not embarrassed because we are 6-6 (might be 7-5 or 8-5); plenty of schools will be watching the TV bowl season. Nor should we hang our heads in shame because it’s a mid-tier bowl as some have suggested. Bowls only help a program, they don’t hurt it.

Lots of teams go bowling now … yep, so what. Many deserving teams would be left out if the bowls did not expand. All we would get is the same teams year after year playing in and getting invited to the few bowls.

Between the NCAA Tournament and NIT, a lot more schools in B-Ball get to do the equivalent of bowling … yes I understand more schools play D1 basketball then football. . W/O the expansion, we would not get to see the likes of a Butler make it to back-to-back finals and score one for the little guys. When LB and staff get the B-ball program to the NIT in year 2 and then in year 4 only get a 1-2-3 seed in the NIT or a 15th seed in the NCAA with a 18-20 win season, will we be embarrassed … I hope not.

Now lets go out and win 3 .. get to a bowl and avenge the lost to UCF in the Conference Championship

pcsa- understand your thinking and agree with most of it.
However, if we get to the championship and play UCF again I expect the results will be similar to our last meeting with them. I just don't think we have the horses to beat them.

To much speed AND depth.

I would gladly accept a redo if we got the chance.

I'm not sure we could beat UCF, but I'm a glutton for punishment and would have to make that trip one more time. Would love to see it happen
