So, one quarter in a 28 point win was a new low for this team? Gimme a break. You make it seem like we got dominated in one quarter somehow. Lighten up, Francis.
Should've checked who posted it. Ponyboy will never post a negative post, so should've known he misposted that one.
Lot of things could be said about the game, but they've already been said in previous blow outs this season. USM was way worse than I thought they were. Like way way worse. Season comes down to Saturday vs Rice, simple as that.
Well that's what happens when you don't have a product worth seeing (from the eyes of Dallas citizen). We are 5-5, 1-3 in OOC. It doesn't really drive people to the stands. We unfortunately have a tiny student enrollment. Basically we have to be no less than 9-3 or better every year and beat TCU, Tech and/or Baylor to drive interest. It's a horrible uphill battle but its the only way
we can't force people to come out, but when you know so far in advance that attendance will be sparse, we should be giving away tickets via radio ads, in schools, at churches, etc...in hopes we can at least attract a few hundred, if not thousand curiosity seekers. With those giveaway tickets, a simple sheet of helpful hints on where to find parking, pre-game food and drink on the Blvd, etc...
we all know our attendance issue is not going to fix itself...until we have a "quality" product, we need to get more people in the DFW area familiar with where SMU is, how to get there for games and just hope that once they check it out, they will want to return.
I've said last year and this year. We are southern METHODIST university. Use the numerous churches (regardless denomination) and invite them to fun fill activity. I get they probably want to steer clear of the drunkards but without lack of fans they should have no problem finding space. Don't stop with churches but heck, give it to the hospitals which some are affiliate with Methodist faith. There are so many places that we could hand out and in hopes get reoccurring fans. Plus what football team has a stadium prayer before the game which should entice our church families around the area. I know some might not like having goody goodies everywhere in the stands but that doesn't mean they can't cheer just as loud.

You do know we no longer have a Methodist affiliation, right?

No during the second centennial campaign, it talked about the reunion of the Methodist church. The board of trustees are all part of Perkins which indirectly linked to the beautiful Methodist church at the south side of campus.

I stand corrected. I had been under the impression that it had parted ways with the UMC, but that is obviously not in any way the case.

Not this again...
While the teachings of the university are nonsectarian, the South Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church owns SMU, and there are 3 bishops and 9 other trustees recommended by the South Central Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church on the Board of Trustees.
