I think the Big East knows the next chips that are about to be played. Look for ACC news soon.

Question is whether or not ACC goes for all three of UConn, Cincinnati, and Louisville or just UConn.

Why the urgency to offer Tulane? If we lose one or more to ACC, that determines future move. This invitation feels pre-emptive, but it is not clear why?

Tulane has made zero commitment to winning at a high level. This is just stupid.
You missed the obvious choice... UTSA.

Tulane is not the move I would make but it at least makes some sense. The move that doesn't at all is East Carolina. If going to go down this road, you add Tulane to capture New Orleans/Superdome access and then you add UTSA instead of East Carolina. UTSA gives you the Texas Triangle adding another decent media market. You would also be bringing in a football program on the rise along with a basketball program that has been always been competitive. I went to the TX State vs UTSA game while home for the Holiday and they had 40,000 fans on hand. That was for a 4-7 Texas State team. They had well over 60K last year for their first game and will be playing OK State in the Dome to kick off next year which will sell 66K seats. San Antonio is a market starving for good Football which is why they get so much support. They have an enrollment of over 35K students and many of the graduates remain in SA after graduation. This program is on the rise and will give you healthy attendance numbers while also allowing the Big East to have presence in 3 major in Texas which helps in recruiting for all of the conference members. Great Support, Recruiting hot bed, 7th largest city in the US, Texas Triangle... Way to fumble the ball commish.

Exactly my thinking. Who else is going to pick off Tulane? ...and so what if they do! If not Tulane there are many others you can choose to backfill. No need to rush.

Tulsa would seem to be an obvious choice.

Jumped up community/commuter college to give UCF a Western Division counterpart.

Respectable academics. A history of being a solid basketball program, and a football program that could conceivably earn some BCS points (if that even matters anymore).

what is going on? Sounds like a Turner move. Is Rice next? I don't like this unless we are on our way out to ACC or PAC, which most likely ain't happening, so turner just managed to get reunited with his buddy Cowen or whatever his name is from Tulane. God help us.

Desperation is what's going on. These aren't even market adds. Aresco may end up looking like a bigger fool than Commissioner Crumbs.

Turner doesn't get to vote for the other 18 Big East schools.

No doubt, Stallion. If UConn goes I think the Big East can survive but if Louisville goes I think it is all over. If Louisville and UConn or Cinncy go it is over.

I would have preferred Rice! At least we have a history with them dating back to the SWC!

I don't understand this at all. Why the hurry to add friggin Tulane???? Agree with others on Tulsa or UTSA (among others) ahead of Tulane. I can't even believe Tulane was on the radar...
